Heh. Nothing really. It's a waste of electrons really. Might as well said, enjoy ice cream on Thursday, and it would have the same effect

Don't tell switchpro if you ever have an issue that you ran a ham through it. They were annoyed with me that I was running the radio as well as a bus bar as a combined system when I was trying to get them to fix an unrelated issue.

I would be careful buying a radio on Amazon. My buddy bought one and turned out it was a fake.

baofengtech.com is an Amazon storefront. Buy at baofengtech.com it goes through Amazon but no free returns plus 15% restocking charge. Too bad they have the market cornered for cheap handhelds. Almost impossible to avoid Amazon for entry level radios. I hate Amazon but didn't have many choices.

Why would the by upset you are running a radio through it? Is it rated for too low of current?

 to their credit they don't try to oversell them. They're a mediocre radio good for first timers and learning some basics and getting on the air.

Interesting good to know. I'll avoid that then.

How much profit margin is there on a fake baofeng Jesus.

There are less and less ham radio stores. There's a few. Where you at? Last I knew there was one in Salem NH, that's the only one I know off the top of my head

Theres a few things they "claim" will cause issues with their stuff despite no basis I know of in electrical theory.

Same with running battery>bus bar>switchpro like is popular in every powertrays setup.

They can typically be had on qrz.com for $450 if you don't want brand new. I've bought and sold two. Do you have any C4FM repeaters around you? A TM-D710G just sold for $350 on there too. That was a steal!

For an antenna, I use a Larsen 5/8 wave dual band NMO mount antenna. They make a black, open coil antenna and the linked shiny, closed coil antenna. I like the closed coil on the Tacoma because it doesn't whistle in the wind. I drilled a hole and installed it smack dab in the middle of the roof of each of my Toyotas.
