Lol. This is exactly how it should be explained in the owners manual. The anxiety I feel when I see a vehicle approaching is next level. I feel like Im unwittingly playing Hi-beam chicken .

Lol this forum shit talking the auto headlights (which work great on mine, maybe I just know when to use them). Most of the members here drive around town with yellow fog lights on when there is no fog.

Isn't the whole point of auto high beams so you don't have to know when to use them? You're supposed to just leave the stalk in the high position and the truck switches between high and low as needed. Worked great in my $85k Audi, not so much in my $40k Toyota which is something I'm ok with.

Now if you just mean the auto headlights, not auto high beams, then I find nothing to complain about. My switch stays on the auto headlight position 100% of the time.

We were talking about auto high beams not auto headlights. Come on man try to follow along. Auto...High...Beam, say it out loud in front of a mirror.

On the right side lower dash there is a lever (it has a silver key hole next to it). Lift the lever and it'll open a secret compartment, some call it a glove box or simply "the glovie". Inside there should be a book titled Owners Manual, or as it's lovingly known here "The Manual". It's a great book give it a read it'll keep you on the edge of your seat from begining to end!

I have used the clutch start cancel almost every morning this winter. Walk out to the truck, start from standing outside, turn on my heated seat, then go back inside for a few before heading out to work.

I have not needed to use it in a precarious situation yet, but I would imagine using it on a boat ramp is useful as well.

The auto high beams on my Tacoma work great, and no you aren't supposed to just leave them on as far as I can tell. Sure it's likely not as refined as the Audi system. The thing wants to pick out one point source from ahead of the vehicle so if you give it too much information (in the form of street lights or many oncoming drivers) it won't work that great. To me, that indicates you're using them in the wrong situation. Back country roads, mountain passes, the system is aces.

Auto headlights is indeed fine just fine as well.

Hahaha yeah I meant auto high beams. When I read the end of your reply I was imagining this scene from Wayne's World.

My auto high beams work great if you activate them where and when you should be using high beams, namely where/when you know oncoming drivers will be few and far between (see above). I wonder if the drivers who say they work like crap were trying to use them in town with their yellow fogs... ya know, where you don't need them.

I had a 2005 Tacoma 6 speed. This was right when the Second Gen first came out and I was one of the first in my area to get one. The salesman had no idea what the clutch override button was all about. Anyway, I ended up using it the same way you use it. To reach in to start the truck when it's cold out.

1st gens have the clutch start cancel as well. Nothing special about it, just a special salesman.
