Reloading is the way to go if you're gonna shoot a lot of trap.
I reloaded on average more than a half ton of 7.5 shot a year...and that wasn't much compared to some guys.
    IIRC, that's almost 15k shells.
Green Dot powder, Cheddite primers, Claybuster wads, and scavenged hulls.
I exceeded a ton of shot for a couple years running.
I didn't keep any records, so I'm guessing. :notsure:

Neophytes over complicate things (I did too).
Go full choke and a load that's effective at max handicap (unless you're recoil sensitive).
    If you're buying shells, that means 3 dram, 1 1/8 oz 7.5s.
My reloads split the difference between 2 3/4 dram and 3.
But I was using top quality hard magnum shot.

What works at handicap works for 16s, not necessarily the other way around..

Every now and then I ran 'em at 27 yard handicap.

Most of my trapshooting (singles and handicap) was with a Krieghoff KX-5.
    I shot doubles with a K-80.

My KX-5 is third from the left in this picture. Notice the R (for Release) sticker on the grip:

    100_0241.jpg

(The blonde gal is Possum's wife, Sharon...for those of you who remember my story about my buddy Possum.)
I built those gun racks, BTW. Four of them. They nest one on top of each other for easy storage.

Me again in the background having a Coke between rounds:

    My K-80:

    ou 3.jpg

I eventually had to go with release triggers when I developed a flinch.
    Recoil sensitivity is cumulative.
Make sure your gun fits you properly, that will help a lot.

Planning on putting an address sign next to it because having people pull into our driveway thinking it's our neighbors is annoying. Also, they're pretty :anonymous:

We gave my sister a pack of salted black ones for Christmas once. :rofl:I'll have to see if I have a video of it somewhere. We didn't mention the salt
