Somewhat productive day in the garage... Texas independence day tomorrow so round 2.

 

I used to have fish.

Awesome to watch but pain in the ass to clean and upkeep. Though sometimes I do consider a live, saltwater aquarium to keep coral, anemone, snails and other animals for a self-sustaining environment.

There's this badass pet store and the guy literally just talked my ear off for over an hour on the care of, different species compatibility, and more.

As long as you provide the proper enclosure to sustain the appropriate habitat, you're good to go.

For instance, my Lasiodora Parahybana was a terrestrial tarantula.

My Monocentropus Balfouri is a terrestrial type as well, but is an opportunistic fossorial tarantula. Given the enclosure its in, giving it several inches to burrow (plus I put a branch creating a hollow burrow below), it really took to living underground.

There are also arboreal types, which are pretty cool but I never had one.

Aside from that, depending on the tarantula, it may or may not require some level of humidity.

They can go weeks, months even without eating at all and apparently some have recorded up to and over a year before eating. Water is really the only thing you really need to supply, and it doesn't even need to be in a dish. Tarantulas can literally suck the water from any substrate in order to drink.

Really amazing creatures not gonna lie.

My aunt and uncle had a giant saltwater tank built into the wall of their old house, all kinds of plumbing and shit going to the basement, lots of $$$

Yesterday I played with a different cup size.

Left half of my T is with 2% lanthanated, and right half is 2% thoriated. I liked my clean tie-in



Interesting to see how they burn differently on mild steel. Blue made me work a little more and even though I was on it a bit longer, you can see my heat zone didn't extend further than my gas coverage. And even though Blue starts smoother, Red was easier and cleaner to work with.
