Haha, all that money spent, and not a single photo of this truck on Instagram. I really am failing hard at this whole social media thing.

Juuuust kidding, in reality we bought a house, remodeled it, got out of a rental, re-rented my condo, snow fell so we went skiing a bunch and have literally only had time for one trip and it was to Patagonia a couple months ago. We were planning to camp this weekend but theres another snowstorm so Im not sure what we’ll do. Game time decision on Friday most likely.

Relocating my backup camera finally after installing the rear bumper. Designed and 3D printed a filler plate really quick to fill the Factory location hole.

Now Modeling up a mount to bolt to the top of the bumper above the license plate to mount the camera. Have it 3M'd for now to test locations, but the final mount will be from some solid 6061 :D

    Nice!

I went with generally the same location for my rearview mirror camera. Great spot, took a little while to get used to the depth of the image though.

I even thought about making a flush mount with that rectangular opening for the spare tire since I dont need it anymore.. but it would be tucked too far back in there. I have it right on the edge of the bumper so the view is nice and open. I'll have to snag pics later today.

Some of you may recall my Tacoma getting rear ended on the freeway about a month and a half back. Finally got it back from the repair shop on Saturday. Over $20k in repairs. No frame damage or mechanical stuff so did not get totaled out. We are putting in a bodily injury claim for my wife's hand (not broken or anything, but some definite pain when she grips hard) as well as a diminished value claim for the reduced sale value of the vehicle even after the repairs.

Planning on striking while the used car market is hot and moving up to a full size truck, so it will be for sale as soon as the whole insurance process is taken care of. I loved the extra room in the Ram 1500 they had me in for the rental so I am looking at either the new Tundra or a Ram 1500 Rebel. Just going to see what the best deal I can find is. Main problem is actually finding a Tundra on a dealership lot so I can see it in person, get in it, test drive, etc.

I trust Toyota more than any other manufacturer but I gotta feel out the new drivetrain in the Tundra first. Saw one of the dealer-owned Tundras while getting the oil changed in the Tacoma and absolutely loved the look. Interior looks sharp too but haven't gotten inside one yet.

If anybody knows a dealership in the valley that has Tundras on the lot, particularly a Platinum or 1794 Edition, let me know! Especially if they are willing to wheel and deal a bit. I'm okay with sitting at the dealership for 6+ hours to make some headway on a deal.

99% sure wheel and dealing is not going to happen, your wheel and deal in this market is paying msrp and not getting shit on with add ons that they are forcing in the sale. As far as the 22 tundra, most dealerships will still be going threw allocation pre orders no one is going to have a surplus, your luck would be a canceled reservation on one that just came in before someone bought.

So all be it not fun, you will just have to find a dealership you like that is not doing markups then order the build you want and wait. I’d suggest heading to the tundras forum, there’s a post with an excel spreadsheet that list dealers by state and shows what they are selling at msrp, $2k above etc. also read the 3rd gen forum there, sadly you will find a lot of people having issues with the passenger side turbo and it needing to be replaced super early in its life like 1k miles and under, so just be ready for that.

Try Tucson, My Sister-In-Law just bought a new car down there AT STICKER PRICE. The Sticker price was less than the sticker price in PHX, by $1500, dont know how but the same car in PHX had a higher sticker price. She is a Costco member and they gave her a $500 discount and she got $2000 more for her traded in. They let her know when and what cars were coming in and held it for her until we drove from PHX to Tucson. Saved $4000 and no dealer mark up.
