It ended up being the wire that runs from the battery to the starter has just degraded over time and needs replacing. Easy fix.

Yeah man, 100% worth it, for me anyways. The tundra had zero transmission cooler and with the fact that I'm towing, I had to add something. My kit was $1,000 and it was worth every penny.

Your tacoma already has a cooler, albeit not a super great one, but if you're already monitoring transmission temps and they're not getting very high then I probably would leave it be. Do you have a scangauge or something to see what your temps are looking like?

I do not have a scanguage or anything to look at my temps. but I've been having high temp problems since i got the truck. After long drives, especially in the summer. when im at a stop, the truck temp will shoot up until i push the gas in neutral and have to rev it up or start driving again. Or even after sitting in the sun all day, and when i start the truck up it stays at a high temp and wont blow cold ac untill i press the gas and get the revs up. After i clean up all the mud in my radiator it helps, i try my best to get all the mud out, but not all of it gets out.

Transmission cooler won't fix that. You might have a blockage in the cooling system. A bad thermostat could cause that as well.

If you're having engine temp problems then the transmission cooler won't help at all. I would say first step would be to get something to monitor your actual temps. I have the scangauge in the tundra and ultragauge in the tacoma, I like them both so either works. I would say the main culprit of the engine getting hot is mud in the radiator. It's surprisingly easy to remove the radiator from the truck so you could just remove it entirely and wash it out.

The AC sounds normal. Sitting at idle with minimal air flowing over the AC condenser it'll struggle to blow cold air through the vents.

I was getting overheating issues due to a bad alignment as well. Kucklehead me trying to set it 1/8" toe in had it set to 1-1/8" lol. This was causing the transmission to work harder and get hot and warmed up the coolant in the combined radiator/trans cooler. Put on a trans cooler and that band-aided it for a bit until I realized the real issue was the screwed up toe

edit: probably should note that this is a really random an unique situation, but something I didn't originally think of when looking for cooling issues

So I wanted to take the RTT off for more difficult wheeling trips to keep the center of gravity lower and have better visibility. Once I removed that spare parts tote from the bed as well, there wasn't enough weight back there and the rear end was a little harsh with the Icon RXT option 2. I wanted the rear suspension to articulate as intended so I made a couple of ballasts to throw in the back. It'll allow the rear end to flex as intended while keeping weight lower.

Is all this worth it? Probably not. But I'm bored and committed to at least one trip on an empty bed so here we are. Each tote has an 80 lb bag of concrete in it (still drying, I mixed it an hour ago), so about 170 lbs of extra weight back there. I'll make a couple of tie-down points and secure it so I don't launch one of those through my back window.

Before it dries out some eye hooks in it! That's how we used to make cheap boat anchors.

I thought about that but that would make this project venture into "what am I even doing" price territory. At this point I'm only like $25 into this.
