I run them through a sander is 120-180 grit. To get a polish you would need to wet sand with an orbital sander then finish with a buffing pad.

Thank you. Any issues with the heat retention? Asking because I am in South East, and competition seemed to have more holes? Sorry if it has been answered. I to like the security of the 1/4" plate.

    Oh look, another mod....

Stainless can be used at much higher temperatures than Aluminum which can become very soft above about 400 degrees. As long as your aluminum plate is a few inches away from the cat and has holes/slots for ventilation, you should be fine. But stainless steel is better.

No issues with heat retention reported. On my F-150 plate I have towed 11,000 pounds a few times without issues.

While this is true.... I have never had my plate get that hot. Generally I can put my hands on them.

At the same time, keep in mind the thicknesses of the plates when comparing cutting one vs the other. Sure, stainless steel of the same thickness is better, but if its a fourth the thickness is it going still be harder to cut...?

This is awesome, an undercarraige wash would still get the salt off. Some of the other ones would block the water spray.

If you live in the rust-belt, spray it with a heavy black spray paint. If you don't, leave it bare aluminum. Who's going to see it?

The screw/bolt holes are in different locations. Sure, it could work, but you'd have to do some drilling.

    Many!
After some research, I purchased a Talon Garage Cat Shield for my 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport 2wd. It arrived in 3 days. Unboxing it had all the parts plus some “winglets” that I figured out went on the front. Installation was easy. I did it by myself in about an hour. This shield requires no drilling. The provided bolts fit holes already there. Speaking of the bolts, they are all 3/16 socket hexhead. I loosely installed the main plate and then installed the winglets up front then the wings on the side. After I got everything in place I tightened it all up. I’m very happy with the way it looks and protects the cats. Talon2006 answered all my emails and was great to work with. Would highly recommend his product! I already have the full steel skid set up. Just bought the aluminum cat protection in black powder coat to match.
