Weather report shows snow in Bear this weekend! Anyone planning on heading up? The GF and I were thinking of heading up and hitting the slopes on Saturday and trying to fit some wheeling in while we're up there.

haha that’s me! I’m throwing that.
Leaving north county tommorow at 6am

planning to do gold mountain and Johnbull and maybe dishpan depending on how John Bull goes. The snow will determine how much time it’s going to take for each. We will be at the gold mountain trailhead around 830-900 tommorow morning

Heading up there from Pilot Rock, but not sure if we'll make it all the way to BB. Last time we tried after the storm, it said 2 hours from Arrowhead Fawnskin...

Someone sent me that post last night. I won't be heading up until the afternoon though. How many rigs are you planning on having?

oh damn, I just now realized I was tagged in this... lol I thought it was general statement, so I glossed over it, since I won't be able to join this weekend, unfortunately.

I'm out of town for the rest of the weekends this month, and I have a lot of work to do around the house. I have to clean out the small basement so we can move our gear (that's currently occupying a bedroom) down there, to clear out said bedroom to convert it into a nursery.

Also, yea, I don't think I've mentioned to all the peeps here that my wife is pregnant :D

As of now i think 5.

which is good cause a big group is going to take forever

depending on snowfall we will try and run Holcomb and dishpan Saturday but they are saying up to 10” of snow which is gonna make gold mountain difficult and John Bull way difficult so we will see

Last time I tried doing Gold Mountain it had just started to snow and the rocks were freezing over, I couldn't get up over the second ( maybe third?) obstacle, it was nuts. Done that trail many times but that was the only time I couldn't get traction for the life of me and had to turn around. I imagine in snow it will be....interesting. Hope there will be winches lol.

Yeah, any more could make for a long day. It sounds like you all are well prepared but things can happen quick. I wasn't looking to get into the more difficult trails as I've got limited experience wheeling in the snow. Definitely want to do Gold though, if I can find others to join. I'd run the trail solo if it were dry but haven't taken the time to hook up my winch and have concerns about trying it solo in the snow. If you have room for another truck on Saturday or want to get into an evening run Friday let me know. Always down to meet new people and wheel.

Kicking myself in the ass about the winch right now but it's one of those things you don't need it until you need it... :bananadead::facepalm:

No worries. We'll keep in touch and make it happen in the future!

I don't think anyone understands this statement as much as I do. That's a bummer, maybe next time!

gold mountain is great for starters.

nuts one of the first i ran in my Tacoma and was great.

main e the whole covid thing it’s definitely become more difficult due to all the traffic now.
I ran it last year in the snow for the first time and it was fun but made it a bit harder,
With a winch, locker and aired down to 8 psi it should be not to nad

I’m always down to go back up
