I was actually responding to the statement that your 2021 AC has done more wheeling then my 2013 dclb

I've had 3 Tacomas with over 475,000 miles of use over the last 22 years and a good percentage of those off-road. That 21 AC may have more off-road miles than yours too..

    Assumptions make ass-holes

and for the record,, my 1st gen with 211,000, my 2nd gen with 236,000 and 3rd gen with 26,000 have never worn out the OEM ball joints on the upper control arm with aftermarket front suspension installed. Last offroad stint in the 3rd gen covered near 1000 miles on the Colorado back country discovery route with some Moab stuff.

    1. Your picture is wrong. The blue line would be higher caster and in real life the wheel moves forward and back in the wheel well based on adjustments made from the top and bottom. That picture assumes the geometry is changing but the wheel position is not, that is not reality. When you increase caster using the UCA, you are moving the wheel back in the wheel well and reducing clearance. If you use the LCA to increase caster, you’re moving the wheel forward to create more clearance.
    2. Show me people killing stock ball-joints, they aren’t.
    3. Yes, you did.
    4. All aggressive driving puts extra stress on ball joint, on or off road. No one is killing ball joints though.

For the 1,000th time. More caster does not equal more clearance without understanding where you’re getting that caster. Stop spreading bad info.

There’s no point in arguing. Tbh just get new UCA’s. Your changing factory geometry. If stock work for your application, just keep on rolling

Sorry. Quick question. I have the 3rd gen 6112/5160 set up on my 2nd gen Tacoma. It’s fine but a little stiff for me. It’s on 600lbs springs.

I have an option tommo to buy the trd Baja set up. Thinking about it. It was made for the 2nd gen. But….it does come with 650 springs from the factory. :/

anyone have any input? Do they think the trd Baja 6112 will be smoother?

For anyone who assembled their own and bought new top hats:

Did you buy OEM or KYB?

Did the top hats come with the nut, washer and bushing to secure the top hat to the strut?

3rd gen 6112’s have 6 clips. The 2nd gen version only have 5 clips. I wouldn’t recommend being on the 6th clip with a 2nd gen. If you went lower and didn’t notice a difference, I guess your going to have to try a different set up since the Trd Baja are basically 6112’s

my only thinking was that the 3rd gen is heavier and they are valved differently compared to the 2nd gen.
plus, the baja 6112 were even more "tuned" by Toyota. but seems like the deal fell thru on me getting the baja kit. the seller is being super slow to respond and doesn't want to text to set up a meet. only emails once every 2 days.

ill just lower my springs to the 3rd clip. maybe get some better mpgs that way. and hopefully little softer.

im on the 6th setting on both sides, plus a 1/4" spacer on drivers side. rear has the meduim OME leaf pack. sitting pretty level.

You can try and find some 3rd gen pro fox shocks. I bet that’s a nice ride.
