If it still has not been sold get the Serial # check the age some of the early ones had some issues .

Down load the operators manual then take it for a good road test Even if you need to lug your own shielding Gas along.

Interesting how Harbor freight had to pull the Vulcan Tig 200 after Lincolns Law suit.

Once you have learned to dial your machine in and are using the common mix of AG75 /25 co2 you have almost no splatter .

Straight CO2 is a different animal.

For the most it is always someone else shooting sparks or starting an Arc the gets you!!

Working alone or far enough away and never doing much grinding i have learned to direct the sparks away Most times it is just a matter of moving myself or the grinder

i have been very lucky only once did I ever get anything in my Eye since 1972 Then the Doctor was Cute .

I did get a eye infection from some idiot grabbing my Hood while I went down to the Truck to adjust the output.

Not knowing this Just went back to work That was expensive a week of work lost.

That is just something one never should do touching a welding Hood is like a stranger grabbing your partners butt .

Over the years I have seen so very nasty fights.

It has been years since I ran any Self shielding wire .

Then that being in the field splatter was never a concern.

The way your post was worded

Took me reading a few times to understand what part required annunciation.

But yeah, that Miller is what I'd love to have at home for a MIG setup! I've been put off of these fancy multi-process machines even though none of us have had any issues with them.

I got mine nice and clean with a dremel. Took a while though. You need grinder-type bits in addition to wire brushes.

    my-shitty-welds.jpg

Not particularly great welding, but I trust them to hold up. Hopefully you can do better.

EDIT: While I've had great success with the "gajillion pack" of cheapo dremel bits and brushes, be weary of those little brushes! They fling stabby pieces of steel wire constantly. After a project under the truck, I'll be picking those little pricks out of my clothes for days. And yes, I do wash my clothes, but it doesn't seem to help with the wires hiding in there. Eventually work their way into stabbing position and can then be found and removed.

I haven't had any trouble with stuff sticking to it. I just wipe it with an oiled rag after use, for storage. Nothing else.

The table isn't a bad deal, but be aware that the surface is usually a bit crooked. Take the time to try leveling it out at both pivots, before assuming it's flat!

Die grinder and some carbide bits work good for me.

Speaking of injuries, I was cutting with an .045 disc on a grinder and this happened through my glove. Perfect Example of complacency. I wrapped that some bitch up with a paper towel and electrical tape and finished out the day. Saying it hurt like hell is an understatement. That was 7 years ago and I still think about it when grinding.

Perfect example that a weld is as strong, or in most cases stronger, than the base metal it's welded to.

The metal around it is usually brittle though. I see guys here moving slow throwing excessive heat into a weld not realize they’re weakening the metal surrounding their filler material.

Yea, I was going to mention the HAZ making the base material more brittle.

If we're gonna show welding related injuries, I got one for you. Not long after I got my Primeweld 225(2yrs ago), I was grinding electrodes on my 8" bench grinder (with guard). Never really figured out exactly how it happened, but two of my fingers got pulled in between the guard and the wheel. Well, the guard is gone now, and I mounted a 3" grinding wheel on my TIG cart. No more using the big boy.

My first reaction was pissed off at myself, so I walked across the garage, grabbed the bottle of rubbing alcohol I keep there for cleaning cuts, and poured liberally. I think I may have blacked out for a few seconds. I've heard pain/pleasure line is close. Not sure I believe that. :)

    upload_2022-3-3_20-19-14.jpg

Tetanus shot only. Body has amazing healing properties. Took 6 months, but not bad. I have exposed nerves on the surface of the skin. If you've ever had a cavity with exposed nerves, think large drink of ice water. I'm still pleased with outcome.
