I sent mine back for a full refund after it caused the truck to go into lame mode on a tollway. Used ECT power for a long time until I got the KD Max tune. ECT is no longer needed. It drives like it is supposed to now. Press the pedal and we go, not think about it.

Awesome I thought it was Toyota install only, or at least that’s what they told me at the stealership here!

Yeah the original Toyota ones I took off don't come anywhere close to the wheel or wheel well to deflect anything.

You probably had a better argument that they might help protect the CV Boot or suspension parts in a front end collision but whatever either way I'm not gonna lose sleep over it...

IF that is what they are for, big if since it's still just speculation, they don't have to be strong enough to matter in most collisions. They only have to be strong enough to make just enough of a difference, even just deflecting the impact by a degree or two, in that precise test that has all known variables (speed, weight, offset, etc.). They likely have no actual impact in the real world collisions, but that one bit of thin-walled tube (and possibly some other minimum viable adjustments in a few other choice spots) could be the difference the 4 star safety rating it got from the NHTSA and 3 stars, which would have a direct impact on sales. That one bit of metal could've sold 100,000 trucks or more since it was added, who knows?
