Wow. So I guess I should be happy paying $4 ! ok now I'm pulling 3 plug wires.

Morning pa peeps. Yesterday I filled my tank up at 3.69. The wawa across the street from the gas station I was at it was 4.09 and they were busier only reason is they have a store. This tiny BP gas station prices are always like 20cents cheap. No store tho

Good morning all. I filled up this morning on my way in for $3.99 . Every other station on the way in was $4.19 . I guess I did ok. I do have $1.00 off at GetGo sitting in the back pocket but its only good for 30 gallons. will do some shopping this weekend and try to bump that up a little bit.

 

What do people think of keeping the same brand of gas in your truck? I got a fill up months ago at another station and it seems my mpg have been affected since.

Are different brand gas stations really different quality of gas? I know a couple of my cars in the past loved Shell but they are so few and far between in the Pittsburgh area. In the truck its mostly what route I am driving to work effects the gas mileage the most.

 

I have seen GetGo advertise that they have Top Tier gas and a couple auto manufactures listed. I thought this was a hey buy our gas for these cars here.

 

I don't know. Here in Beaver County, there is a Shell about 1 1/2 miles from my home and another about 6 miles from that one, so I have no problem getting it. You are right about the dearth of Shell stations in the Pittsburgh area. I grew up in Allegheny County and when I go back to see family, I don't see many Shell stations. I know Shell is Top Tier. I don't think Costco is, thus I stopped getting my gas there. I don't know if it makes a difference.

 

Refineries make gasoline. They sell the gas to anyone willing to pay, Wawa, Sheetz, Liberty, Sunoco, whatever. They all buy gas from the same refineries.
Companies like Exxon, Shell, Gulf, BP, Valero… do not refine petroleum into gasoline differently according to who’s ‘name’ is at the pump
That said, the refinery may put additives in the gasoline as they fill that certain tanker

 

I wonder, then, if there is anything to be said for using the same brand, consistently, to help make the truck run better?

 

I don’t know but a great question.
My father worked at Sun Oil 31 years, started out as a Chemical engineer and ended as the senior VP. I recall asking him about ‘top tier’ gas. His response was and I quote “what’s that?” He then told me ‘top tier’ gas is a term created by media and there’s no such thing.
I tend to trust someone with those credentials on that topic. Relative or not.

 

Yep. I also recall people switching out plates to get gas....

 

Well it looks like its time to bring out the old lost bet from 6 years ago and start taking that to work every day. Cant beat a 50cc Honda scooter that cant pass anything but a gas station.

 

Same for me but I have a yamaha.
