Yup, per ton. Still had oil on the brain!

Oil is up to $4.349 now. Up 55 cents in two days.

Nah, there are some of these that are in the 5-7k range on facebook etc. Maybe in an accident in the past or something. Who knows. But if it's a shitbox to futz around in, I couldn't care less about the past :D so I'll probably look for one later this year. Hopefully when used market somewhat settles? This is regardless of gas prices, I can't be running my V6 1 mile each way and having the temp needle not even move. Gonna get crussssssty.

Nahhhh you don't need those pesky things. Plus the CP4 would love some extra lubricity in the fuel. Those pumps suck on modern low sulfur diesel.
Yeah... totally illegal, I'd neverrrrr do that! :anonymous:

I had a former coworker get popped by a local cop driving his tractor down the road 300' to his neighbor's driveway to help him with something. Cop demanded to dip the tank and fined him for using public roads with ORD.
I pour all sorts of crap in my fuel tank  I think presently I have diesel, some Ford fuel additive, 2 quarts of ATF, and a quart or two of clean used oil...

The modern Powerstrokes have 2 fuel filters, one on the frame rail and one in the engine bay. I doubt running ORD would ever cause issues, it would probably help avoid some issues. The CP4 high pressure fuel pump that the 6.7 Powerstroke and the newer Duramax use were designed for European diesel which has more lubricity than the stuff we have in the US. I've seen so many fuel system meltdowns over the years. Once the pump starts to go, it cycles metal shavings into the injectors, returns it to the tank, picks it up and brings it back into the pump and lines. You're looking at a solid $10,000-15,000 to replace the entire fuel system. It suckkkkssssss

I love my old 7.3

I'm still toying with the idea of installing a disaster prevention kit... I'm not really a fan of any of the current offerings though. Maybe someday... Wouldn't prevent the CP4 from grenading, but it would save the injectors and the rest of the fuel system.

Easy gimme for a fine, that's shenanigans. But that gets into commercial.

Oh, yeah I don't think there would ever be any problems from the filters, I just mean the filters might be suspiciously red if they got checked if it came down to a large-bill warranty claim or something like that.

Edit: Although, I do not know, if you could say you used ORD on a farm when you were working on the farm, and it must have been red from that, and you were only using diesel fuel for the road bits. :notsure:

Oh boy, it's gonna be a fun spring here. Before all the summer stuff starts, I have some overdue maintenance to tackle and a bunch of new stuff to install. I'm taking a week off of work in May to hopefully get through all the projects below.

    Diff and t-case fluid change
Remove, sandblast, and repaint all my armor - full skids, sliders, and at least the front bumper (the rear bumper is still in decent shape)
Marlin Crawler LCA brace kit to install
All-Pro fuel tank skid to paint and install
All-Pro BMC plates to install (not going big on tires yet, but I will be down the road)
Snorkel to install (once I get it from Jared)

I'm going to try and dig up some scrap steel and spend some time trying to remember how to make some decent welds over the next couple of weeks. I've welded before, but very little (exploratory shop in high school), and I've never used the Eastwood MIG175 that's sitting in my garage. This should be fun...

Honestly I'm surprised you haven't done that yet.. It's an expensive fuckie-wuckie.
I can tell you we're far more concerned about contamination or water in the fuel than we are ORD.

Have fun! We're just about to start tackling plating my entire crawler frame with 3/16" steel. Gonna be a LOT of welding!

Here was my first attempt at practicing welding before fixing the rotted out flex pipe on my landcruiser with a 115V Flux core welder since shop class in high school circa 2000.....20210801_143559.jpg

Oh man, I'm going to have to share my feeble welding attempts with you all now. I'm going to see if I can get the local trash hauler to let me dig a bit through the metal container at the recycling center tomorrow. Free scrap metal if I can get it is exactly what I need to practice on. I'll even return it when I finish.

I could be way off as usual, but I believe Toyota changed from 75-90 to 75 in 2016 was for reduced dynamic drag in the case for better fuel economy much like manufacturers going from 5-30 to 5-20 in a motor. I'd think any GL-5 synthetic would be fine. Maybe you can poke around on the Bob Is The Oil Guy forums for clarification. Those guys are obsessed with this kind of thing.

Bad photo but these are the welds on my titanium frame bike that was fabricated by a laid off welder from Electric Boat. The welds are a work of art. I'd ride a submarine he built...
