I always wondered how much of a difference there was between HREW and DOM strength wise. Mine are DOM and have been going strong for years. No dents in them at all.

A friend put the DIY 4xinnovations ones on and went HREW to save a few bucks. One trip out and he had some sizable dents in the outer tube, and he has a fairly light weight first gen. Dents as in it looks like a golf ball hit it at 200 mph and left a 1/2" deep imprint, not the main section of the tube bending or anything drastic.

For OP, HREW would be fine but for anyone who wants to use sliders as sliders should get DOM.

"Cheap" and "rock sliders" are rarely used in the same sentence.

    excellent question!

I did a search on YouTube for this a few years ago when making my own sliders. And honestly I think HREW is fine for 80% of folks who "use" their sliders, but in my neck of the woods, I can't get it, so I HAD to go with DOM for my sliders.

it just really sucks when I make a mistake in my bends......

take this with a grain of salt ;)

How much do you think the sliders cause you to loose on ground clearance with the extra weight on suspension?

All good info here but I’m going to raise a different viewpoint because that’s what forums are for:

Imagine a world where you are sitting on a fat pile of cash, the cash you saved when buying Tygers or HREW. You feel like a king or Scrooge McDuck, it’s awesome! It’s like $200 in singles you could use to “make it rain” on a greasy Friday night out at the gentleman’s club. Then you go out wheeling one time and smash your door in. Suddenly POOF! all your money goes to the body shop. Bambi doesn’t see you on Friday and can’t pay for college. Back home you eat cold Spagetti-Os from the can in the dark because you couldn’t pay the light bill. Sadness.

Of course I’m exaggerating a bit for humor but you get the idea. Yea it makes sense generally to try and get the best deal in parts and save weight so your build doesn’t turn into a bloated overweight barge. But for me personally, the one place I wouldn’t cheap out is on sliders. Net difference from stock tube steps to bolt-on DOM sliders is like 60lbs (I know because I weighed mine). Eat a few less cheeseburgers and buy/build beefy sliders.
