Right? I haven’t even started my overlanding journey yet and now I might never with those gas prices. As of today it’s $5.13 per gallon in so cal.

 

Damn I hope I don’t see $5 a gallon here in WA. I did fill up today at $4.20/gal so it’s headed that way.

I live on the East Coast. I wish I had cool scenic places like you guys do in the west.

You do, but it's just 'different'. I drove out for Expo East last fall and was VERY impressed with the Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah National Park, and all the history of much of the area!

Heck, even where I'm from in the Midwest there's beauty if you know where to look. The Great Lakes region is a personal favorite if mine, but there's also lots of historical stuff too.

I get it though. I'll be heading out West in a couple weeks and I can't wait!

Yeah, but the thing is I've lived here all my life. I've seen pretty much everything there is to see here. And we are a lot more urbanized here on the east coast. We don't have the wide open spaces and undeveloped land like you west coast guys.

Well, someday....

The cool spots aren't as publicized. I wouldn't trade for the wide open spaces, higher gas prices and annual wildfires; but to each his own.

 

In the process of planning a trip back out to CA with my son and definitely not looking forward to paying those prices. Going to be an expensive trip but what can you do. I'll probably take both my gas cans and top those off at the cheapest places I come across. Not going to make a big dent in overall cost but anything will help.

 

I've had plans too. But they are now being changed to destinations much closer to home or cancelled entirely and replaced with projects at the house. I can enjoy not paying for gas. And I figure any gas I don't buy at high prices adds to the supply so prices will go down and people poorer than me can better afford gas. Some of it is hard to swallow, but in the end I just can't see being so focused on a long trip that I will support the price increases.
