I got mine off of aliexpress, but because of covid it's been unavailable.

COVID seems to have killed all the retailers of these airbag covers... any links?

Aliexpress is full of switches, Including some that appear they have adaptive cruise control on the right button array. Android radios might be able to read these as separate usable buttons...

I got mine from AliExpress. But it was hard to get before covid,so I'm not sure how you'd get it now. But I do know the truck won't read the extra switches. I have a set

So, the truck will read the extra switches. You must have, if not already equiped, the clock spring from a model that came equiped with 1 or both switches. I fully converted mine from a model with the base radio and no switches. Once i got clock spring and swithes in. I had to purchase a small radio harness for a another toyota, or lexus model with steering wheel switches. The harness is only 3 wires, (Rx, Tx and ground) our trucks are prewired from the steering column to the harness behind the radio. The connector for a radio that utilizes steering wheel controls was already on the dash harness behind the radio, unused, on my base model. The andriod radio in my truck was able yo utilize all the switches once i added the toyota/lexus radio harness from ebay and i could program all of the switches to what ever i wanted. They also seem to get their illumination power from the radio as well. Soon as i hooked it up. The steering wheel controls started to come on, as they should, with the parking lights. Prior to plugging the radio control harness into the radio, the switches and clock spring were already done, but would not light up until i finished wiring them to the radio. I may have had to re-pin the connector to work on my truck, but it's only 3 wires and easy to figure out. the important part was it had the same connector.

    One like this.

I'm talking about the adaptive cruise switches in the middle of the right hand side... the other ones I know will work.

I did find an aliexpress dealer that will sell me the airbag cover.

OH! looks like you got some controls for another vehicle with the same steering wheel. These trucks never had adaptive cruze control. Yup. On a Tacoma control like the one you've shown it is actually blank on those two buttons only.

Less than $100 for airbag cover, buttons, and clockspring.

Without a doubt the hardest part was getting the original airbag cover off. The massive head rivets were a pain to remove.

My old wheel looks crappy compared to the new cover!

Thanks. Next is the leather wheel cover.

Is it just me, or is drilling out rivets on a bomb a little bit disconcerting?

Any help on a good rivet tool? I've never done any. Hunting for a cover, bought a wheel and clock spring but my bag is a single stage so it's gonna be dicey...

Best $5 you've ever spent! I found a place on aliexpress that sells the covers.

US $38.25 | Plastic Horn Cover For Prado LC120 Camry Land Cruise LC100 With Emblem Logo Black Brown Gray Free Shipping
    https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtunle6

It took just over a month from order to delivery... with at least 14 days waiting for USPS to go through the container delivered by International Bridge.

How can you tell if you have a single stage or dual stage airbag? Mine did not look like the one in the original post.

I guess it's an assumption as it's a 2002, I have yet to open it up so we'll have to see. Thanks for the info and leads, much appreciated!

I wonder what this guy is, looks similar but has threaded pieces. Rivnut tool possibly?

My project is actually '02 Tundra so not sure about first gen Taco, wish I had my old one but I sold my 2000 to get the 2002. At the time there was no way I had the $ to keep two trucks.

I ordered up a rivet tool, at least I have that part covered I hope.

    That wheel looks great!

I've ordered the steering wheel switches and the clockspring to do mine, but I'm having trouble finding a cover. Every link looks like it's dead, and searching is not revealing anything.

My 2005 currently has no buttons at all. I got the pair of switches off Ebay that includes both sides and the ribbon cable. OE part number is 75B037. It has the extra two buttons for adaptive cruise and OFF on the right side.

I got clockspring 84306-48030, it looks like the right one, we'll see. It was only $13, so if it's wrong it's not too big of a deal.

I really don't want to have to buy another airbag just to get the cover. There is a Pull-a-part nearby, They say they don't sell airbags, but I wonder if they would just sell the cover. The staff probably pulls all airbags out of the cars that come in, and blows them up for fun.

I have talked to the parts guy at the dealership a couple times, we had some common interests. I wonder if he would be able to source just a cover. I also have an Accord, and talking with the Honda parts guy, changing a cover is not a big deal. In fact, with the Takata recall a few years ago, I expressed glee if my airbag had to be replaced, because my emblem is messed up. He told me that all they were replacing was the bag itself, not the cover. So even if I did get a new airbag, I'd still have my worn-out cover. Bummer.

Anybody know where I can get a cover that will fit with the switches these days?
