I wish the actual product was pictured to get a better idea of what to expect before ordering lol.. I hate when websites have the "Notes: Picture does not accurately portray actual item."

First, you are asking in the 2nd Gen section if these step guards will fit your 1st Gen tacoma  You'd probably have better luck asking the 1st Gen guys. We don't know the dimension fo your door sills.

Why don't you look for a product made for your specific application?

The AVS step shield is much better than the Toyota one. Sure they don't say "Tacoma" on them, but they cover so much more of the exposed area.

I made my own out of skateboard grip tape. It was cheap and works well.

I've got them and honestly, they're not much more than a really thick sticker. They don't even cover out to where the metal turns down. That's the area that needs protecting the most. They do look good though. It measures 2 3/8" x31 3/8". Also, on 2nd gens, you have to remove existing sill cover. There is a standing seam running the length of the door opening, it has a couple of v's bent into it.___^_______^_____. The door sill protector has corresponding v's cut into it for alignment. I say this so you will know the back edge is not straight, it has v notches cut into it, to be covered by sill cover. Unless you can tuck it under your existing sill cover(IDK about 1st gen), you're going to have to trim it straight. But like I said, it's not much more than a thick sticker. Should be easily trimmed. Hope my ramblings help you.

I can measure my own door sills, was just asking if one of you guys could possibly measure yours so I can compare lol. (Thanks 05 TRD Sport, exactly the info I needed) I hadn't found the specific ones when I posted, if the Tacoma ones would fit I wouldn't mind using them, but the AVS should be nice too. Thanks!

I have those exact ones, just havn't installed them yet. As mentioned, they seem to be just thick stickers.

I just bought a set of the Toyota door sill protectors for my new 2011 TRD sport DC.

Very disappointing... Complete waste of $25. The online picture is misleading. Wish I knew about the AVS before hand.

Has anyone tried to get the door sills coated with line-x or any of the other truck bed linings out there?

I have the oem door sills and they suck, they do not cover the corner which sees the most abuse.

Yes it does! I used Rusto Truck bed coating spray and taped off my area. It has been on there a year and never once has peeled or chipped off.

My protecters say "Tacoma" on them...came installed on the truck when new. I saw once where a guy cut out the word "Tacoma" to where the trucks paint showed through...looked sharp!

    Lots baby!
I made mine too. These are made out of a vinyl grip tape (used in gym shower's). I had these laser cut. It's a little easier on bare feet than skateboard grip tape.
