Easy question

Anyone used their cigarette lighter for long term power needs. In the manual (yeah I actually read it) it says not to use it .

 

Why not use it just make sure the truck is running..?

 

I have things in both holes! (thats what she said) Anyway, I have my GPS plugged into my cigarette lighter and my Sat radio in my 12v outlet. Don't know why it would say that.

 

I guess the worst thing that could happen is it could catch on fire....

LOL, ouch I hope not! Maybe they mean the lighter itself? Not to keep heating it up? That could cause a problem.

 

I drove 22 hours (stopping for gas pf course) with myGPS pluggeddin to the cig lighter outlet no issues.

Left the GPS power adapter plugged in for about four days (gps not attached) no issues.

 

i have a small little flashlight plugged into it for years with no issues... Oh shit! Truck is burnt to the ground while typing. ok dont use it.

My GPS is plugged in it all the time.

it power downs when the truck is off, so no problems
