Hi members, checking in from Atlantic Canada. I've been watching this thread and thought I could contribute after getting my allocation. There were a few key differences in the Canadian edition, some I was expecting, some a complete surprise. To start the Canadian version comes with the Predator side steps as expected, which are growing on me, but all else should be the same as the US version. I was surprised to find that my model came with no black badging, which I am very disappointed with, but confoundingly it came with no lockable storage. I polled the guys at my dealership and was surprised they did not know much about the whole situation. Perhaps the issue could be explained by the difference between the US and CAD markets, but I was able to show them releases from Toyota Canada detailing all of the above features as standard. A pain, they are looking into it. Nevertheless the truck exceeds expectations with appearance. The lift is only the 1" and 0.5" etc, but it towers above other models on the lot. I don't have many pictures, but wanted to evidence the lack of features for any other Canadian members if they were in consideration. Many thanks to everyone in the thread for the pictures and material, they were a great source of entertainment while I waited 8 months for my allocation. PS, no air dam came on the truck.20220303_172428.jpg 20220303_180413.jpg 20220303_180409.jpg

Congrats on your new Trail Edition. I think I'll remove my lockable storage soon. There isn't that much space inside the lockers.

Beautiful truck. At least you don’t have to remove the storage boxes. I think you could easily black out the badges. Great truck as is. Congrats and enjoy it!

I am picking mine up this weekend (California) and surprisingly mine is coming with Predator steps as well, which I didnt know was a thing. However, I am planning on getting rid of my storage boxes so if you want some sunshine youre welcome to drive down and take them!

Also, a blackout package is super easy to find on Amazon or third party sites for less than $50. For sure get that.

    Truck looks awesome.

Thanks for this. I'm in Atlantic Canada as well and should have mine in the next couple of weeks. I was aware of the side steps and no storage boxes but I'm a little pissed about the badging. I know its only cosmetic but after waiting seven months for a truck to have to go and nag the dealer to correct something that was supposed to be on there is really annoying. Clearly said it has that in the brochure and pics and the Canadian site.

just went through 43 pages to find this answer. Is it confirmed a standard key? I've been waiting for a lunar rock trd off road since november/january... dealer has an army green TE coming in end of this month. I really wanted advanced/premium technology and LED lights, but I have been renting a car the last 3 months and can[t keep waiting in hopes of getting an offroad 4x4.... they seem to be non existent in FL and I've had no luck contacting out of state dealers. I drive a lot for work so I loved having the smart key and push start in my 2017 offroad premium that was totaled. I have to decide monday If i want the trail edition and I'm leaning towards it because I'm getting desperate. Not thrilled about the lack of features since it'll be my office.

my local dealer here in Nova Scotia Canada has a LR trail edition and I can confirm there is no smart key. No bed boxes or black bagging either…

feel free to Pm me for any questions. Yes, it’s a normal key that you turn to start, and you can lock/unlock off the key remote.

it’s doesn’t have push to start or smart key entry where you just touch the door to lock/unlock.

I really enjoy mine and don’t miss the convenience features the OR gains. The main convenience things are the Smart Key, the Qi charger.

what do you feel you’ll miss out on most?

I feel like such a weenie for saying this but my 2017 had a smart key/push start and I never want to go back. I drive around a lot for work. I'm in slacks, getting in and out a lot, often times I'm carrying stuff. Last Tacoma was only 2wd but was an OR Premium, leather seats, sunroof, gps/touch screen, the whole shebang. I got rear ended on the freeway and it was totaled, insurance paid me out. After crunching the numbers it won't take much out of pocket to get me in a 2022 OR with premium tech for the same payment. So I had my heart set on a lunar rock short bed OR. I've been renting out of pocket and they just jacked the rate up so I got offered the TE and was about to pull the trigger... but we're going to buy my wife a rav4, then I'll drive her car then trade it in for the Tacoma. There's the long version lol.

Finally got it (Northern California). Did a lot of the simple, fun cosmetic updates in the first 48 hours, but have some plans coming in the next few weeks as I get ready to put the Super Pacific on it in November. So far...
    • Black vent rings
    • Black cup holder ring
    • Topo Tacoma tailgate lettering inserts
    • Black climate rings
    • Meso customs flip fob key (honestly awesome as it cuts about an inch out of the length, and doesnt get caught on my pockets)
What is planned for the next few days will be:
    • Meso customs dome and map lighting
    • Tacoma Beast LED sequential turn signal headlights
    • Raptor lights
    • Removing the storage boxes
    • Hiline series center bumper with Baja Designs light bar
    • Window tinting
What is planned for the next few months:
    • Tires (still deciding but want to go up to 265 or 285s, so open to suggestions)
    • OME BP51's
    • Old man emus with a 2 inch lift/level
    • Fog lights (still waiting to see if someone else figures this out first)
    • Super Pacific camper
The big maybe is do I move to the HEIGH10 just because it looks cool.... TBD.

Hi everybody, checking in from San Diego. Been following this thread since June. I can't believe it's finally mine. Planned mods: Nothing because its already perfect. Bed boxes are going in the rafters. Okay, maybe I’ll get some sliders.IMG-5797.jpg

Congrats! You're the only other Trail Edition that I know of in SD.

Thanks. Norm Reeves sold an army green one recently. It had predator steps and roof rails with a $6000 markup. Got mine in Chula Vista. Orale.

    Just the basics
I would highly suggest investigating other suspension options instead of OME. For tires I'd throw out 235/85s.

Simone. Yeah I drove up to Longo Toyota in El Monte for mine. Poway had an army green one at msrp, but had $2,000 of dealer add-ons and didn't want to take them off.

Is it true we’re able to fit 33” tires?

thinking out loud, but the trail wheels are the same as a pro and you have a similar lift as the pre 2022 pro’s did and they seemed to be able to run 285’s at stock height so…..

the wheels are the same, 1” is 1” as far as lift goes vs fitting taller tires. Not sure on the alignment between the 2.

I run 265/75/16 on my Tacoma and feel it’s the best all around size for day to day drivability as well

Nice. Not sure if I'd want to go with a cheap [jungle website] kit, but it doesn't seem too difficult. I'm still unclear about powering them properly.
