The Tundra might replace the Tacoma. I'm not counting on it, but the Tacoma might shrink in size. Somewhere between the Maverick and what the Tacoma is now, that might be a good thing if it remains a BOF. I wouldn't expect it to be a powerhouse, but it might be more responsive than the 3rd gen if Toyota can up the power, reduce weight and do something with the transmission. The electric Tacoma did not look like that big of a truck, and the new Tundra has been downsized from the 2nd gen.

Beat me to it. I'd like to do one of those experiments where I list the specs for two competing trucks but switch the nameplate and watch the fan boys come out and defend the opposing sides truck.

The regular Ranger roasts the Tacoma in a drag race, so the Raptor is really going to go. Doing a unscientific study I have seen a new Jeep on the side of the road on fire but I have not seen any new Rangers on the side of the road with the hood up, I'd say they are pretty reliable.
It will be a while before I have to consider getting something new, my Tacoma has been running great for the past 9 years.

Hey now, let's not forget the frames bending in two on the Raptors back when they were becoming so popular.

That's a completely illogical way to judge reliability, lmao.

I like Toyota for their evolution, not innovation. I like that the 3rd gen chassis essentially dates back to 2005 and a very similar engine has been proven in other platforms for years. They will never have the sexiest, trendiest most powerful new trucks. That's not what they do. I acknowledge the frame rust is a weak spot, so I take great care of mine and expect my Taco to keep being a boring, underpowered, manual seat-ed, small infotainment screen, weird seating position, general purpose truck with a wheezing minivan engine for decades to come.

I would not personally buy a first year forced induction anything.

I think that's the point. When you're a fan(atic), you make illogical arguments.

Again, the fanboys defend their Tacoma on it's second frame while blasting the turbo of the ecoboost. I'd rather swap a turbo, heck an entire engine, than have to swap a frame. (Assuming warranty covered neither)

True, I have been very lucky with Ford so I have never had a reason to complain about ford quality. In fact I have said many times that it beats Chevy and Dodge by a large margin. For me the F350/250 is the best large truck ever made. But I think n the smaller truck field, toyota's overall reliability wins out for me. But, I like the new ranger and would have no issue with owning one.

Toyota serves it's purpose for me right now. If my purpose changes it's gone. Simple.

If by handled it you mean not having a legitimate recall and denying claims all the time, meanwhile they’re still using the same garbage steel they were in the late 90s and sending out bulletins on third gene (like I got for my 2016), sure it was handled.

Well, it sounds like you should treat yourself to the Ford experience. Somebody has to test out those things. I had great luck for a whole lot of years right up to 2014 and then 2018 model years. When they went downhill, they went BIG!

Yeah I love my 250SD when I had it. But Ford cut corners on the aluminum heads and only put minimal threads for the plugs. Soon I started spitting spark plugs out.
    Lika semi hard.

Ford does make decent trans but whats in front of it is usually a unpinned grenade.

Yeah, I didn't mention the 5, E4OD transmissions we ate in a year and a half on one of my F450 Super Duty Forestry trucks. 4 were on Ford's dime. #5 was on me and was finally built by Ford tech that assured me he could build a better transmission than Ford was providing. He was right.

About 3 weeks ago in a land called wyoming. I used my wifes 4runner to tow a f350 out of the ditch. It was sketchy as shit, we didn't want leveled by an 18 wheeler so sorry no pic.

I hope those Ford guys pull me out when we miss the next turn.

my 2015 6.7 PS was 100% reliable and to this day many mechanics I have talked to call that engine the best heavy duty truck engine made today, reliability wise.
