Same here, NPR on every radio. It felt good when I stopped listening to it. So haven’t gone back to news radio.

No cable in my house either, Roku, Netflix, Prime and Hulu services split between me and my son. Only problem is all the major news has video clips available. SkyNews out of the UK has their live feed, that’s what got me.

Feeling better today, woke up and immediately turned on “Bourbon Blues” on Spotify. Think I’ll make it today.

In the Walter Cronkite days the news was 1/2 hour local, 1/2 hour national at 6 and 11 -- one hour of national news daily. CNN launched in 1980, they had to fill the other 23 hours with something - the lines between news and entertainment were slowly (stealthily) erased.

I feel NPR maintained a much more neutral presentation for many years longer than the others. In my opinion they have now sadly drifted into an agenda driven presentation just like the others, perhaps not quite as far but the idea of fairly equal time for all sides is long gone.

Glad you are feeling better

Btw, for anybody that cares, I’m waiting on some acoustic foam to cover the rear wall pressure vents before I finish up the dual battery wiring. Trying to tone down the “open window” noise from the back of the 3rd Gens. Amazon is “experiencing delivery delays in my area” So why am I paying for for 2 day prime delivery??

Interesting… curious to see how that turns out.
I fiddled around with different ideas to reduce the sound coming through those vents. I finally decided to install the panel w/stock insulation that is standard in a utility truck (no rear seats in an Access Cab).
Seemed to be a reasonable solution.

I have read of several people putting a pool noodle between the bed and cab of the truck as a barrier between the road and the vents. I haven't tried it yet myself as by the time I read about it my truck was off the road for the Winter.
Yes, I bought a 4x4 to not drive in the snow... :anonymous:

I drive around with the rear seats down since I have my dog with me a lot, the noise gets to be very irritating. There are several threads on here about it so I know it’s not just me.

The acoustic foam seemed to be the best fix that didn’t cause any over pressure problems when shutting the doors or restrict the air flow through the cab. One extra step a guy did was to seal around the vent inserts with silicone as he seemed to think a lot of the noise was coming in there. I had some flex seal on the work bench so I tried it, I can tell a difference. I’m hoping the foam will improve it even more.

The pool noodle seems to really help block the road noise before it gets up to the vents but I’m concerned with dirt and debris building up on it and causing a rust problem- not that a Tacoma has ever had a rust problem.

Foam is supposed to be here Monday or Tuesday.

@RustyGreen thanks for that thread link Rusty, I hadn’t found that one. Know I’m thinking about adding the extra door seals to mine too.

I drive for enjoyment and I like music. I was quite surprised stunned at just how noisy the Tacoma is coming from the back. Most of my old clunkers & wheezers didn't have that much noise from one area. My 96 F-250 is significantly quieter with over 200K and E rated tires. Amazing that a well used vehicle 25+ years old should be quieter than a new Toyota.

Long term I want to do the whole sound deadening project -- but man oh man does it seem like a lot of work... Maybe next Winter.

I remember reading about the pool noodle and thinking that it didn’t sound like a viable option for me. I don’t like the idea of placing an object between the cab and bed which would wear the paint off in short order.

Same with my 94 Chevy 1500, much quieter than the Tacoma.

I bought enough kilmat sound deader to do the entire cab. I’ll do it in stages, at least that’s the plan.
