I've been dragging my feet on the stucco side of my patio door install. Hope it's easy.

I wouldn't mind flat walls (I did my floating ceiling flat) but a texture distracts the eye. There's always going to be imperfections in everything; finish work is all about hiding it and/or making it look intentional.

Also the modern wallpapers I've seen are on non-textured walls, that was kinda what I was trying to say

I remember seeing a house back in the early 80s where the sofa was upholstered in the same pattern as the wall covering and drapes. It was actually tackier than this.

Wallpaper is on its way back. But not in entire-room applications. Just a wall here and there for accents. The paint store I was in today had an entire section devoted to wall paper, and a lady that runs just that side of the store so I guess they sell enough to justify it.

I flipped through one of the sample books and I gotta say the textured stuff is really nice and its no longer just that cheap floral shit from the 70's. I may consider it for one of my bathrooms just to spice things up a bit.

Think people are tired of the solid neutral colors that followed the "industrial" style. There's not much personality in that but it looks finished, so it's great for rentals that want to still pass off as "luxury".
I've focused more on "stone and steel" with high contrast for my house, but could definitely see myself using a nice modern wallpaper on an accent wall.

    Okay, Joanna Gaines.

That whole "modern farmhouse" thing has got to be the tackiest design style since the pink bathrooms and kitchens of the 50's.

I like mid century modern furniture with todays modern paint colors and fixtures. If I ever build a house from the ground up its gonna be in a west coast modern style. Lots of windows, low flat roof lines etc. It may be the only one on the east coast but Im fine with that.

Barrelling off the Joanna Gaines thing (totally agree btw)...

I cringe any time I see "repurposed" pallets into furniture, planters, etc.
I'm not one to scoff at recycling or DIY, but it's like trying to say you're quirky and creative in the most basic and over-saturated way possible.

It will, just with a new name. Notice how 70's wood paneling is back in style under the guise of "wainscoting."

Soon enough HGTV people will probably be talking about how luxurious colored carpet is and people will go back to putting it everywhere.
