Dealerships and manufacturers can't have it both ways. They can't expect their customers to be satisfied if they treat them like feces. Customer might decide to return the favor and treat them like feces. The dealership and the manufacturer made their bed and JGoldman is helping them lie in it.
You should be more creative and diverse and also complain on Yelp, GoogleMaps and submit a complaint to BBB.
Everyone should know how they treated you, when they could have just as easily bent over backwards for you and improved their reputation.
Instead they decided to play hardball in expectation that you would just smile and bend over for some more?
Go get 'em, JGoldman, give them an extra dose for me!

My local dealer is about 30% less if you purchase parts on-line than if you order by phone or in person and pick it up.
I asked why and the parts manager told me it's because they are set up to most efficiently handle internet sales from all over the country and it cost them much less to process an internet sale than an over the counter sale. Makes sense to me.

Well, yes... But also the chance of making more from a sale to someone in person on an impulse buy that's done zero research. Markups are the dealers bread and butter. It's less about the cost of the online order and more about the percentage of money they make through "business as usual" tactics. Some will even be honest with you about it. My buddy works there and he's straight up about it. They have a list of approved vendors and anything beyond that gets marked up. Even then, it's just cheaper to order it yourself 99% of the time. Cut those middle man fees out of the equation. Also why some dealers want nothing to do with that stuff, because they don't make anything or at least, a very small margin that's not worth the hassle.

My local dealer has an ebay store that sells cheaper than their parts counter. You may have to wait a day or 2 to get your item but you save a decent amount of money, and there is no shipping because you pick up at the parts counter. If you have a question or issue they have a dedicated ebay guy in parts. It's the same all over. If you want it now, be willing to pay for instant gratification. If you want it cheaper, wait until Monday. At least your email will give someone at Toyota a good chuckle.

Well that sucks. Last year my hot water heater also gave up the ghost late on a Friday and I had my choice of plumbers to replace it the next day as long as I was happy with the brands they stocked.

OP is clearly looking for sympathy and validation, not constructive advice. If he wants to be coddled by his peers, he should post his bed wetting manifesto over on Facebook. He's not going to get a lot of faux support here on TW with a post like that.

Not to go too far off topic, but I asked. Plumber recommended against it with the city water here.
