Yes both our 2016 & 2019 Tacomas have 12 off set rims…both of us , run 32’s BFGs…plus both spares can fit..

 

So 12 offset? How wide are your rims?
My wheels are 9" wide with a -6 offset (4.75" BS) and I had no issues.
With my wheels spacers (1.25") I'm now sitting at 3.5" BS and I have rubbing while reversing and turning or hitting bump while turning.
But normal driving on the road it's fine.

 

9 inch ..275/70r/17. BFGs. … I am wondering will the off sets and how width of rims effects the rubbing?
Done a CMC and moving my tires forward 1/2 inch help eliminate most of the tire rubs…a little tire rub while reversing on turns…just a little bit..

Some Tacoma owners with 33’s do not get any rubbing? Is it the rim widths?.. and off sets?

About to upsize to 285/75/16s and looking for the optimum offset and back spacing to avoid rubbing on cab and/or UCA. It appears after reading numerous posts a 16x7.5 or 16x8 wheel with a zero to a negative 5 offset and around a 4.5 to 4.75" back spacing would be the ideal setup. Not planning on running wheel spacers.

I've had both SPC's and JBA's. JBA's on the 2011 4Runner I just traded on my 3rd gen and SPC's on my last double cab second gen. Both at around 2.5" of front lift. If I had to do it again (and more than likely I will) I would go with JBA's again. I had those in my 4Runner for probably 40k miles and no issues. The things I really liked about them versus the SPC's is the bushings have grease fittings and the ball joint is a bolt-in style. If you ever have to replace the joint you just take it out and bolt a new one in. On the SPC the ball joint slides and pivots for the camber/caster change. No way would you be able to just pop that sucker out and get it remotely close without an alignment. And this is coming from a guy with an alignment machine at work. It's just a pain. And you could source the JBA joints locally. SPC not likely.

If I do it again …UCA …something to consider if replacing the ball joints..?

Did anyone replace there ball joints on the SPC’s upper control arms..? Any problems? Cost? Difficulty?

A bit pricy for SPC replacement ball joints ..costing from $130.00 to $180.00 for a pair…is what I found so far…

In June 2021 ..Bilstein came out with there version for lifted Toyotas UCA …. Under $700.00 ..
With Bilstein reputation….Now you can get a complete Bilstein shocks & UCAs…for the front…

It is only listed to fit 2018

 

The below quotes are from the JBA Upper Boot Problem thread over in the 1st Gen section. JBA sorted out the issue with their boots, but the below info is what I found through researching the large list of UCAs for the Tacoma. My preference is JBA for the ease of sourcing and changing ball joints.

 

Another question. When you ordered did you get the new or old style SPC? is it half tube or all forged

Just check them when received before return window. I’ve heard some people got the older style joints but that was over a year ago so should be good. I bought the last set on hand when I bought mine last December, but the restocked.

 

Bilstein UCA will fit 2005-to 2021 Tacoma, Same like JBA upper controls will fit 2005-2021, and am sure most of the other brands will have the same fit…
