The backlight has a separate power wire that you can attach to any circuit you like (DRL, turn signal, running lights, etc.). It switches off automatically when the main chips turn on, so it doesn't do anything functional in terms of light output.

Installed Some Morimoto LED Fog Lights on my 06 RAV4 and honestly for the price I was completely dissatisfied. The light output is pathetic at best and they didn't have yellow covers instead they used a laminx which was impossible to get to stick correctly and pealed up. Would honestly give my money to a homeless person before I give MM anymore of my $$

If I do offroad or driving lights I'm hitting up Clearwater

Having had Morimoto LED fogs a number of years ago, I can agree with you. As for better fogs, you might want to go back to the beginning of this post.

I'm sure crash is a busy man, but the longer I wait, the more I suspect there may be some unforeseen issues with the product that required attention before testing.

    Nah, crash is just busy.......

    Fog light bulbs question here.
I’m trying to keep stock fog lens-I did swap out my 2021’s for 2019’s models for H9 acceptance.

I’m looking for H9 or H11 bulbs that are amber light output. Anyone find and use these? Internet searches not showing much, something like this:

H9 should not have a glare cap, so I kinda doubt thats a legit H9, maybe an overwattage H11. An H9 should not be used in the stock halogen fogs because the fogs rely on the glare cap on the H11 bulb to prevent the dazzling l8ght from the filament from being directly visible to oncoming traffic. Also without the glare cap you get more of a floodlight effect, which reduces their usefulness as fogs, for use in inclement weather.

I can't remember if Crash has tested Nokya hyper yellow H11s or not... otherwise I would suggest you reach out to Daniel Stern at his web site to see about what reasonably high quality options there are for selective yellow H11's. He will probably suggest that it would be easier to tint/cover the lens and select a high quality clear/tintless H11, which would be easier to consistently source (or buy a stock of decent yellow H11s to keep on hand).

Thanks for the info Toy Runner. I also eventually found these by Hella. I am familiar with this brand as I have a pair of driving lights on my jeep.

Waiting on my backlit Max. Apparently they needed some reengineering to work correctly so they're backed up. Hopefully they're out this month. But the other backlit versions are out there.

Been waiting just over 3 months for my backlit SS3 maxes. Kind of wishing I would have went non-backlit instead, but as long as they get here before my bumper I guess it doesn’t matter.

I'm curious to see what the little performance bump will do for the maxes. @crashnburn80 do you plan on evaluating a set?
