When you pick up your camper your going to be so excited and may forget a few things. Inspect, touch, fell, and work all your attached options! Take photos of everything. My paint on one section has failed, both front runner doors have problems, my top is hard to open. My rear door section is attached with a machine screw witch was screwed into the bed rug and not the bed (photo after relocating). These are all things I found hundreds of miles from their shop. Make a list and check it twice! I picked mine up last June and still don’t have a resolution or a date to have the repairs resolved. Same story after texts and repeated emails, no communication from Vagabond. Be diligent and perform your inspection! We do love using the drifter and its a total game changer.

Jim, did you reach out to Front Runner on the doors? My guess is they would defer to the installing company but I would probably try.

Frontrunner doors suck, but that looks odd. I remember Phil complaining about FR doors and moving more to using Tern products. Contact FR.

But if those are the only issues after 1 year…solid! That’s just my outlook on it though. Every camper has its wear and tear (minus paint defect and door bending…). I mean we got GFC with doors falling off, OVRLND with some garbage build quality, SP with leaking tent (and GFC too), FWC with garbage build quality….

If you added stuff to your roof or are trying to open it in cold weather, may explain why the roof struts have become weaker. Look on the side and check the lb rating!!

I really love the white on white. I think it's just you (1st gen), @4wdExplorer (2nd gen), and @jimlangfordphotography (3rd gen) that has that combo.

When you get a chance, could you inform us what the rivets are on the lid on the passenger side near the front? Not sure if that is new design / updates or related to an option like Solar wiring.

The white looks so good! The black doors are key I think, otherwise it might be too much white.

4 months ago Phill did say they would replace them but no word since.
The problems are minimal and I have been using this truck and camper a-lot!). I have one solar panel on the top and thats it. Camping in the snow I have to open the top from the inside. Every thing will get fixed, the point is take a good look at your camper during installation. Don’t get me wrong, this camper is the bomb! Your gona love it!

Good eye, didn't realize they were something new. I have them on both sides, not related to the solar pass-through. There is a beefy L-bracket that is also bolted to the hinges on the inside acting as a guesset it seems.20220306_083335.jpg 20220306_083807.jpg

Ahhhh, thanks for that. That's exactly what I was looking for.

I believe this is related to the changes Vagabond made from the early Drifters to the later ones that were ordered with roof options.

The outer two hinges moved out to the edges, like yours and now they are also including L brackets.

I believe it is to help keep the lid from shifting with the heavier duty struts required for the roof accessories/loads.

For reference, here's how the earlier Drifters hinges were located:

Unrelated, what size q-clip are you using to hold down those q-towers for the fairing?

I've got all the parts already from my old car. I want to do exactly what you did and mount a single bar for the fairing. Thanks!

Looks like I got bc 125 clips for the q-towers, combined with round bar adapters, and my trusty electrical tape wrapped schedule 40 galvanized pipe crossbar.

Thanks for the updates with detailed photos.

How is the powdercoat holding up on yours? It seems like it's mixed on QC for their powdercoat on the Frontrunner Gullwing doors.

The coating on the drifter, driver side, upper rail, is shit. It is the only area ( driver, front to back) on the drifter that is effected. Love the rest. Material defects on the Frontrunner doors is a problem. Hope we can resolve these concerns soon.
