I've never gone through a contact tip and I've gone through multiple spools.

Do you have a lot of stick out?

Are you pulling your nozzle off and cleaning it every once in awhile?

I don't even use gel (never have) and have no issue. I can say I noticed the nozzle get dirtier faster when I ran straight co2 at school. Since having switched to 75/25, it's much cleaner. At work it's the same, only use 75/25 and it's pretty clean there too.

    Your fine !!

I have a few set ups for my XMT`s 304`s the input cable runs to a disconnect with fast blow fuses i pick up one leg and use it for 120 vac power .

Inverters the faster the circuit opens the less $$$$$ it costs to fix.

in what way are the failing?? Just worn to the point the wire no longer makes a good electrical connection ?

Which brand contact tips they are not all the same!!

You are using the correct size tip ?

How long does your 10 pound spool last a few days or longer ?

I don`t use any Nozzle dip Like Kirk I can go a long time without changing a tip I just scrap out the splatter as needed.

I wonder is the Nozzle dip making things worse??

.Then I really don`t keep track of consumables.

Resistance builds up inside and then it can’t push the wire through. It will move if I pull it but something is causing a lot of resistance inside. Hobart/miller tips. 10 lb spool lasts me maybe a year. Lol. Just do projects here and there. .030 wire and .030 tip.

Well, do you have good tension?

When putting on a new spool, and you run the new wire through, once it exits the gun, you put your hand in front while it feeds wire to test the tension. If the wire immediately stops with any resistance, it could be that you need to tighten the nut/wheel where your wire feeds.

Liner could be dirty too, which will cause the wire to drag and fight its way out the gun.

When not in use do you pull the wire out and store in a plastic bag in the dry ?

Sounds like rust building up in the contact tip from the wire sitting.

Might be time for a new liner.

My go to for wire tension is pinch the wire between thumb and index finger it should slip rather then create birdnests

The cure for feed problems is not to crank down the tension. Figure out what was wrong.

Well, I mean you're right regarding the tension part.

But this is assuming that everything else is in working order, including the liner. Our big machines have the wire feeder on top, with the spool hanging outside which is susceptible to getting dirty.

Unless I am using a Suitcase Feeder all my Feeders are the exposed wire spools you are aware you can get covers to cover the wire while they are in use.

My feeders are on there own carts to get them low to the ground another one is mounted 8' off the floor at my welding table.

Then a new liner is my first go to for most feed problems . quick and easy

"I’m using nozzle gel to try to keep tips lubricated"

I don't understand this part of your description. I don't know how to lube the contact tip.
When I used nozzle gel, only the nozzle got a coat of the gel. The contact tip was never directly in contact with the gel.

I removed the nozzle from the gun to lube the nozzle. I never stuck the whole assembly in the lube.

Yeah, I've only ever had one feeding issue, and it was simply a bad/dirty liner. Replacing it solved the issue.

Just going back to what I was saying is that, if everything else is good, tension is one thing some people forget. Seen it at school among several students.

Check cyberweld.com. I just got a cylinder from them and it arrived within a week or so. Decent price compared to buying it locally too.

I played around with various shipping scarnarios.

It looks like I can ship the smaller webs for around $8. I can get up to 8 webs in one box and have room for packing.

I'm still trying to figure out what is best for the large webs.

I think I would like to ask for $30/ pair for the smaller ones. This includes the shipping. Obviously if you order 4 we can drop the price to $25/pair.PXL_20220306_195054807.jpg

These will be rough webs. I won't be hitting them with flap wheel to clean up the dross.

I ran these off this morning after I wrote the G code for filleted corners. I wanted them to not be as likely to rip thru the box during shipping knife someone by accident.

All the ones in the picture are available at this moment.

I just spent an hour and a half grinding and prepping metal for my bed bob final stage. Metal fab is like 97% prep and 3% finale lol. Between the prep and finishing a laundry room refresh, my arms are shot.

Yeah I always thought you just put the whole assembly in. But I think I need to dial in my settings to get rid of the spatter and that should solve my problems

dip the gun in the anti splatter gel when it is hot as so far to many seem to do.

Leaving the Anti splatter Gel open to all the grinding and other shop dirt flying through the air

Think that is bad Aluminum is much worse .

Just to clean the back part of a refer trailer where it was broke from the fork lifts bouncing in and out all day to prep for about 15 minutes of arc time.

Then I worked with old timers in the strippens " Prep work what is that " Funny how so many things failed to last 15 minutes.

No rust. Just getting clogged up. Must be from splatter or not having my settings right.
