Yep crazy, price gouging…companies will use any excuse to stick it to consumers. Not sure if increasing our production will help any. As the last couple of years used the pandemic and supply line shortages as an excuse to raise prices.

You can narrow it down to simply consumerism is bad for the environment, and we are all guilty of it. Perhaps that is what the Earth is for its’ resources. Maybe Musk knows this and why he is pushing inter-planetary travel, he sees the writing on the wall, and hopefully the human race can expand out into the cosmos before this place becomes inhabitable.

Who knows? I've gone through too much tin-foil trying to figure that out. LoL. Is that your band in the Youtube link? Sounds "clutch" - no pun intended. LoL.

NA market Toyotas are very American, Tacoma and Tundra are engineered for the US market, and are exclusively sold in North America.

You might not own or drive a Toyota truck built in NA, but those trucks are not the same as 4Runner that was imported from Japan.

Ain't that the truth. My Tacoma was built in Mexico, and it shows. I traded a 2017 4Runner Trail for the Taco and there is a world of difference in quality. The Japanese really have a different way of doing things.

Yeah who knows…but if you think about it, the universe is full of unlimited resources as far as we know, it only makes sense for our species to expand to interstellar travel.

Clutch is my all time favorite band, and the link is one of my favorite songs, and where my name came from on here. My take on that song is we are all fucked… lol!

On their fan FB fan page, hell yeah brother!

It’s funny, because the Antarctica is warmer than Mars, and you can actually breath the air, but I don’t see people rushing to put condo developments down there. Would you rather live on another planet, freezing your balls off, with no water or breathable air, or maybe try the Atacama Desert in Chile first? That place at least gets some rain, and you can breath the air.

Humans, including Musk, are so ridiculous in their perceptions. It’s like “we’ll I can’t live in San Francisco, so I guess Pluto is my only option.”

I am thinking it is a last ditch effort to save our species, because the planet can’t be saved. Or actually, if you look at the fossil record and geology the Earth has been through much worse than humans, we are nothing more than a surface nuisance …the planet will be fine, the people however… are fucked.

Quite possibly, but there’s competing theories with credible evidence against that idea as well. Humans are very adaptable and will likely survive whatever cataclysmic epoch is coming from too many Florida Georgia Line fans rolling coal in the Duramaxes. Society may change, and there may be less of us, but, in general, the planet encourages human population growth, which is why it grew by another 81 Million last year with no end in sight.

It’s the fact that humanity continues to thrive and expand that bewilders the Thumbergs of the world. If you are placing bets, humanity seems to be winning, despite the stories of doom.

It is mind boggling how well we are thriving, do wonder when the tipping point is. Sure the planet will shake us off eventually and start over like it has done a couple few times in the past. Or we may do ourselves in, perhaps sooner rather than later.

One encouraging thing for those who do think we are doomed, is that the young people have so thoroughly bought into this idea of “the end” that they are not having children because “who would want to raise a child on a doomed planet”. Instead they are almost entirely focused on selfish pursuits like “bucket lists” and “self improvement”. The birth rate is dropping off a cliff in the west and Asia, and as we export woke ideas to the Middle East and Africa, it will happen there too. Humanity’s doom might actually come from prioritizing your Instagram over reproducing and raising a child.

Being a parent is hard work…….who’s got time for that?!!!

Well…all that lives is born to die. :) It always was that way, and always will be, doom is inevitable. The universe itself will eventually fade into nothingness it is thought. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.

Bringing more children into the world is arguably one of the worst things you could do for the environment, just going to consume even more resources and energy. If people really cared, they wouldn’t spawn. So who is more selfish the narcissistic selfie takers or parents? Probably the best thing for the environment is to live childless, consume as little as possible until you meet your end. Then the drain on the planet is no more. The majority of us are just taking up space, including myself…doing nothing to advance the species and only consuming. As the pandemic showed us, majority of the world’s population simply aren’t needed.

Then the age old question arises: “Why are we here?….plastic” lol!

The best thing for the environment is to raise a child to respect it. If you have no children, you might as well roll coal while blasting Florida Georgia Line as you won’t be around to see the results of your “good deed” anyways. Children have the power to affect the future, beyond one’s own limited time here. Nothing else does.

Not having a child “to save the planet” makes zero sense. Have a child and teach that child to be a steward of the planet when you are gone.

All depends on your ideology, and how you rationalize. Life thrived for millions upon millions of years before the arrival of humans, and look what we have done in such a short time. We are currently witnessing the Earth’s 6th mass extinction, the data suggests it is being driven mostly by us. The planet and life would probably be better off without humans. We can’t even take care of ourselves let alone the planet.

I'll posit that if 'not having children will save the environment', then 'not continuing to exist' will also 'save the environment'

    Hyperbole? Yes.

    ...

Me? I think the planet will be here until the sun envelops it in a few billion years.

But can we go back to talking about potential toyota vehicles already?

    Well of course!

Sure! We aren’t engineering ourselves out of this mess. Thinking EVs are the answer is rather naïve.

That said, I do like the tech, near silent, instant torque, can adjust the type of power delivery with a press of a virtual button. Cool stuff…now only if they can get battery tech to be practical.

Older article, but some interesting ideas on future batteries.

I drive on average 30 miles a day. Even 200 mile range would be fine for me. I have an older Land Cruiser for the weekend rock crawling. Would be ideal situation for me.
