My daughter bought me a Napeir Backroadz tent for my truck this Christmas. Fits great and has tons of room for 6ft me and my 6ft 6in grandson.
Question is... what does one do with your car keys during the night? With the proximity keyless entry anyone can open the cab while I am dead to the world asleep in the bed of the truck! Do I hide them in a tree a hundred yards away? Risk it? Or take the batteries out of the fob?
Have been looking for a simple temporary alarm system for when we go out.

Owners manual, you can lock the fob.
I have a manual trans, and cant do it, or I would tell you how.
Enjoy the time with your son.

I didn’t see the option of pitching the tent outside of the fob zone, lol.

Turn the fob off. I think the instructions are in your manual. Google might be quicker.

ETA: found it: To disable your key fob from transmitting a unlock code. *Hold down on the lock button and then push the unlock button twice. Its now disabled.

I think it’s hold the lock and press unlock twice to disable it

The fob needs to be close to the door, the lights come on. I don’t believe the problem you think you have is actually a problem.

Try this as a test. Lock the truck and stand 10 or more feet away with the fob on your person. See if your grandson can open the door. I bet not.

Thanks guys, I knew I would get a good selection of ideas. I think I may just bring the dog and leave her in the cab. 70lb Siberian Husky.

    You have few option
    1. Lock the key fob as stated on above comments.
    2. Take out the battery. It takes 3 seconds to take the battery out. The downside is that you will need to put battery back to star the truck. Sometimes you don’t have 3 seconds during emergencies.
    3. Faraday bag/RFID- Blocks signals. Key fob won’t transmit signal.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
We had Huskies at one time. We called them our watch dogs, they would watch as someone cleaned the house out.

Regular keys are so much better. Proximity keys are too large to clip on your key ring, and too cumbersome to keep in your pocket. I wouldn't even use the fob with a standard key, if the key and fob are separate pieces. The fob would be stored away.
