So, it's time to give it serious though. We have a new baby and are dealing with the same ol thing I'd hear about when I wasn't a dad. Needing more space. I never wanted to sell my beloved Single cab manual 4x4 but I'm kicking the idea around. And hell, isn't this the hottest market currently for our vehicles. Thing is I think the Taco is a gem and I have a huge emotional attachment to it but we really do need more room for a family and currently the truck just sits there. I'm looking for some opinions and insight on the matter.

    Sell it. Get a 4Runner.

You will be attached to that new baby instead of a truck.

Yeah I feel that. My wife and I put a lot of time into the truck and lived out of it for a while traveling the US back in 2016. So many adventure memories and experiences. I'm afraid I'd regret it.

Well, why don't you keep it. I sold my 240sx to buy my wife a volvo v70xc. I sold my miata when my wife needed a new van. I regret both of those decisions. I could of afforded to not sell them, and now they are gone.

Maybe keep the truck, and buy a little older additional vehicle.
We bought a touring elite Odyssey. I could of bought the SE model and kept this.

Sell the wife keep the truck.

On a serious note find a way to keep the truck. Pick up a used suv like a 3rd, 4th or 5th gen 4runner, GX470, GX460, 100 series Land Cruiser.

If you are worried about regretting it now, you will for sure regret it later.

Congratulations on becoming parents to both of you.

I don’t know of any options other than replacing the taco. Driving with your new baby not properly secured isn’t an option so I sure you’re wise enough not to.

A single cab Tacoma is rare to find for sale so you should get more than you think it’s worth. Then add on the inflated used market.

All this makes me think is that it’s time to upgrade your rig to fit the new, larger family. Then start making new family memories with the more suitable vehicle. The old one may have memories but if it were me I’d feel like it was holding me back.

Also, right now is a FANTASTIC time to be a seller in this market. Of course if you’re in immediate need of a replacement then it’s moot.

My wife has a crossover SUV. I'd want a legitimate truck. What's good now a a days?

When my kids were little we had a 90 truck and a 91 4Runner. We needed the 4Runner for strollers, diaper bag, and various kid supplies. Later it was a Durango with a third row seat for carpool duty. Now, my son has two boys in car seats and a daughter on the way. He’s shopping for something to fit them all. Kids cause changes.
Cars come and go, but when you reflect back on your life, all that will matter will be what you did with your child, not what you drove.

I still have issues about when I sold my 1980 FJ40 Landcruiser when my son was born. What I should have done is just get her a family car and retain my Landcruiser.

Just get the little wife a family vehicle and keep your truck.

Congratulations on the little one. I too recently had a child and although have a double cab, it’s a tad tight. Thought about hopping into a 4 runner, but the legroom really isn’t much better to make the child seat scenario easier. And storage for luggage etc is actually better in the bed of the Tacoma.

Considering keeping the truck and maybe upgrading my wife to a Sequoia. We have an older 3 series wagon that helps out

The only thing constant in life is change. Adapt and move forward. A truck is just a thing. You didn't have it before and you won't have it later.

So I should tell everybody. We do have another vehicle that we did get for the purpose of our new baby but we're running into issues with her needing the car and it being the only vehicle with enough room for a baby. She also doesn't drive stick.

I'm not too up on new cars cause I'm cheap and refuse to buy something new and expensive. Personally, a Tacoma DCLB is about as perfect as it gets for my situation. If I was looking for a full size I'd check out Dodge as I've been hearing very good things about them.

The trooper is sitting at 93,000 miles on the odo with nothing wrong and a long list of maintenance records as well as upgrades... What should I expect to sell for. Was thinking about removing the shell and selling separately.

This is why I ended up with my 19 DC. Sold a perfectly good 08 AC that I enjoyed a lot more.

You'll regret it if you sell the truck. I wish I would've just bought a third vehicle like a Camry or something to drive the daily commute.

Wife and I are in the same boat as we speak. I have a '14 AC that just wont work with the baby. We also have a TINY Lexus NX300h. We just took our first 'trip' with our 4 month old and dog to Palm Springs for ONE night and could barely fit our stuff (a backpack for me and a large should carry bag for my wife). The stroller, dog bed, our stuff, a small bouncy chair for the kid and some diaper bag stuff (oh and my golf clubs of course) and literally my wife rode the entire way with stuff on her lap. So any trip longer than one night where we need to bring suitcases... not sure what we are going to do.

Both cars are great mechanically, my '14 has 85k on the ODO and the Lexus is a '15 with 45k on the ODO. We are going to wait as long as possible before making some sort of vehicle decision. I'd like to buy some used SUV thats bigger, but with gas prices the way they are i'd really wish Toyota would make a PHEV SUV, like a 4runner or DC Tacoma.

Good luck with your decision. Be curious to see what you decide to do.
