Oh no... Not the threat of losing such a valued customer....

Couple of these guys I'd lock the door and flip the sign to "closed" just as they are reaching to open it.

I adore the customers that think they can make demands of me, when it’s MY services they NEED. When demands are made of me, I respond with a two part approach.
    1. phone immediately goes to do not disturb.
    2. if it happens on site, I draw the customer a nice easy to read map highlighting a tranquil place where they can go fuck themselves. I’m thoughtful enough to take the guesswork out of it. Take notes OP.

Yes there is "customer service" then there is customer demands. The latter people only put up with because their job sucks, they are underpaid and the threat of losing that job for one asshole isn't worth it. I am also fortunate enough to know the difference and have the ability to chose how much shit I take.

It's zero. The amount of shit I'll take is zero.

Back in the days of retail work, no choice and you just defer these assholes up the chain - but it truly does break some people down and that sucks to see. Some people handle it better than others, obviously, and there is a tactful way to deal with assholes. But as someone that can finally say I don't have to... I have plenty of map drawing experience and I'll gladly show you what the fist/hand represent when it comes to terrain features

True, though I guess it is a two way street at least in the grand scheme. Short term the customer needs you more (usually) but ultimately the business needs customers.

My second job I get a lot of wiggle room in terms of dealing with difficult people and while short term I don't always get what I want (which ideally is some kind of middle ground), long term it all comes out.

I can relate, with a customer service background as most of my working life be it retail or something different.

Running it up or being firm can be frustrating if the unreasonable person ends up getting their way. I'll never forget the 20 minute call I took over a $9 charge the member legit owed and had had it explained prior when it was waived as a courtesy. She tried everything on me but I wouldn't budge. She called back 30 minutes later and someone didn't do the research, waived it again. I made sure to print that up for my manager (who was a very hands on manager and would stick up for us to the end).

That's a pretty good attitude there guys - well said. Clearly you all mastered the customer referral and word of mouth parts of business 101.

Our last review on Google Maps has about 4K views as of this morning. Add Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, etc, etc etc. Each one of those people has a friend or family member that (in this case) will say "Paul went to _____ and they really did a bang job - they took good care of him." The opposite is also true. Like I said before - if you can afford to lose the business - kudos man, very successful. However multiply the 4K by 4 or 5 social media outlets and now you have 15-20K people seeing bad reviews about your business. How does that extra 30 seconds to take care of a customer sound now? You gotta realize - you're one storefront, one door, dealing with one person. Once that person starts to in your opinion whine, become a Karen, act entitled...do the math. You know, they tell 2 friends and they tell 2 friends. But I'm sure you know that - you're all multi-miliion dollar a year industries...right? Our Trip Advisor reviews have a little over a million views. That's a whole lotta people that will hear "Don't go there, they think you're entitled for getting service that you paid for." It takes so little to take care of a customer, but it's a bit harder to restore your fucked reputation. Just sayin'

It’s as simple as this to me: come at me with respect and I will reciprocate 10/10 times. Act like you’re better than me for whatever BS reason you’ve got, and now we’re having a different conversation. Entitled customers can form an orderly single file line to shampoo my crotch.

I'm pretty sure you are so far out of context you just wanted to make yourself sound like a better businessman... but okay buddy. Not even worth arguing with you because you clearly think we are on different pages when in reality - and for the 100th time - there is a difference between an unreasonable customer demanding services THEY HAVE NOT PAID FOR YET and customer service. Not my fault you take payments up front and can't disclose what they are actually paying for without having to jump through hoops.

And yes, I worked in "customer service" half my life. You cannot please everyone. Stop acting like you can just because you can't read or comprehend what the fuck we are actually talking about. You also had to make up some derogatory commentary between fake employees working at these places to get your point across - again - which didn't even come close to the reality of what actually happened.

This is the best post in this thread I think! Lately I thought that TW is dominated by fanboyz but now I think maybe its just dominated by dealership employees or maybe its just the ad revenue influence coming thru? Anyhow its still mindboggling that so many clerks seem to be on edge with their Karen-detectors at red alert levels just waiting to pounce on their 'entitled' customerz. Maybe some customers don't become Karen or 'entitled' until their own scam-detectors are triggered by snot-nosed clerks. I could see the attitude if it was a Beluga Caviar store and they're jacking the margins up sky high and making a killing selling to entitled billionairez with money to burn, but the same attitude being applied to average people just trying to use mfg coupons for their Yota parts seems totally wrong. I know the local dealers around here are the red alert types and want to know your zip code immediately first thing before they decide how much to screw you. If they find out you're within a short distance of their store, they'll be endlessly standoffish and won't budge from the high-horse top-dollar attitude.
Every store has their own businesz model and makes decisions about how much margin they need, but if they hire employees to be clerks and indoctrinate them to be just chomping at the bit to squeeze every last penny out of their customers especially if they come with coupons or a desire to save money?
I sure as heck would not want to be the mgr or owner of a business that had such low margins overall that they think its profitable to be more nasty to their customers than their customers are to them, especially in today's age with endless review websites that can ruin company reputations.
I hope JGoldmen posts negative reviews about his experience on all of the sitez, i know I have whenever i've been screwed!

Ok tough guy - no need to get your "Actual" panties in a wad... maybe you should call "Variable" for backup - wannabe operator.

Who said anything about me being a businessman? You just assumed that with your clearly superior "customer service" skills. If that's what you learned after doing it "half your life" - you really got short-changed in the learn-sumthin' department.

"take payments up front and can't disclose what they are actually paying for without having to jump through hoops." A business or employee that as you say can't disclose what you're paying for is ripping you off. WTF does that even mean? Can't disclose what you're paying for? Who pays for something without knowing what they're paying for? It's not a mystery box special.

"I worked in "customer service" half my life...you can't read or comprehend what the fuck we are actually talking about." -
I guess that's why it took half your life to get out of customer service...with a 'tude like that you must've run out of customers. By the way, in case you didn't glean this from any of the above - go fuck yourself, and make sure it's service with a smile...bag-o-douche.

We make it a point to write good reviews...a vast majority of them are. We also make it a point to ask for a manager (especially at restaurants) and tell them, too many people will call you for a problem, but not enough will want to tell you face to face that your staff is doing an awesome job. You're right, most of the members here aren't just fanning dollars out like they're in a video at a strip club. Some of them need parts for work, or because they live a few hours away from a town big enough to have a dealership or large parts store, so they need to get things done "same day". It's all talk and fake bravado, some guys just have to look cool online, or get real tough - with a keyboard LMAO. With a few exceptions, an employee who tells a customer to go fuck themselves, or turns the sign to closed as someone is walking up - probably doesn't come back to work. I especially love the ones who say that the customer NEEDS them. That's pretty funny. The last service I "needed" was an EMT. Unless you plan on launching a satellite...there's ALWAYS someone else to go to for service. Even then...to get shit to Mars...you have choices.

Excellent point, I do the same thing also. I gave multiple really great stellar reviews on different sites for the salesman and mgr of the dealer where I got my TRD OR last year. Also put good reviews for restaurants, even just fastfood. That reminds me I need to put some great reviews on Olathe Toyota where I've been ordering all of my oem parts at discount since the local dealer can't compete.

Take a break dude. Being this triggered can do terrible things to your body. You took this shit WAY to serious and out of context.

    Cringe.

    Hardly - but ok.

I see your Army seal, same here - so I just had to give you some shit over the "Actual" name.

As far as the rest is concerned, too much is taken out of context online. I'm sure if we were having the same discussion over a few beers - we'd see eye to eye on a lot of this. Regardless - eat shit & bark at the moon. ;)
