@mooseditty - When you're pulling that little trailer, are you using ECT or gearlock? I'm renting another TT at the end of the month, one that is similar to the one we want to purchase later this year. I've not pulled one this size since doing the 5.29's and anxious to see how it goes.

    Have someone else do that.
I dont not have slu on my log, but I monitored it along with temps visually. I dont think cooking TC in the mountains is a good idea. I used to experiment to shutting SLU down and know all about the consequences.
As far as misfires... I don't want to go a second round to talk what's normal/abnormal.. when other tunes don't do that under same conditions.

I'm not sure how someone else can log your issues for me, but I sure hope you can be happy someday Vlad. I'm sorry it wasn't with us.

Regarding misfires, Toyota logic is weird on what flags a misfire. You know that, we know that, anyone who has access to the repair manual knows that, and anyone who has been using vF for a while knows that. I don't know why you play dumb. Just because the misfire count increases does not mean it is a true misfire. You can tell if a true misfire occurs if the O2 sensor reads lean after the misfire was flagged. If that doesn't occur, then there was no misfire. Toyota obviously knows this and that's why they allow up to 100 "misfires" to occur per cylinder before even throwing the MIL. Here's some info straight from the repair manual that I suggest you to read.

Also, I provided a solution for you to provide us better logs to further assist you. Until then, there's not much else we can do. But blatantly ignoring a solution only shows that you're here to troll/make us look bad, and you don't care for an actual solution.

What do you mean by trolling? Did I fudge the data or something?
How do you think a feel about my experience on the tune?
I'm willing to get it working due to obvious reasons.
I'll load the tune, hook techstream and get you more "precise" logs . I'll reset TC as well. But you do realize I'm not going to drive to the pass every date to replicate the data?

We appreciate your candor. However, I have run all of the popular tunes with similar or worse results. While I'm not willing to go into what is good or not or who's runs better, monitoring Misfire RPM and/or Load will also pinpoint if they are even true misfires. By definition in the service misfire detection can, and is triggered by a variation in engine speed. This means the ECU can, at times, count what it sees as a misfire but isn't. Rapidly increasing and decreasing engine speed will exacerbate this condition. True misfires cause noticeable power loss. Currently, none of our more than 10 test vehicles experience misfires.

For anyone concerned about our tune and its health please refer to the excerpts from the service manual shared by @ktbell444. By Toyota standards we meet or exceed these numbers. Misfire counter is active for 1000 engine revolutions and will count any variations as misfires. True misfires can be felt, especially at idle, as a slight rumble or shudder. I have been tuning engines for many years, and have never personally felt this in the 2gr. However, to make an omlette, you have to crack a few eggs. So, we have induced them at times in the quest for a better tomorrow.

It is very unfortunate to hear from dissatisfied customers, but we are aware that we are not going to please everyone. It is sad to hear that it sounds like @Vlady is in that group. We were hopeful that we'd be able to meet or exceed your needs. From the sounds of it, we have not. We do take any and all feedback seriously and do our best to resolve customer complaints. The entire Nexus team is regretful we are unable to do so for everyone. However, we will continue refining. Afterall, that was our goal to begin with.

We asked for your cooperation to help fix and issue you are having with the tune. If you want the TC locked up more than it is. SAY SO. We can customize if for you if you so wish. I'm telling you all 2 things you've complained about are WELL within Toyota specifications. You had 29 misfires on a 200 mile trip, after having flashed a RADICALLY different tune. Toyota allows 35 misfires every 1000 revolutions. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM. We've occasionally seen 1 or 2, in our testing, but would never market a file with consistent misfires at or beyond an acceptable range, absolutely not. You stated TC got to 210*. Also not a problem, but If you want the TC locked up all the time, I can do so for you, all you have to do is ask instead of creating a ruckus on my thread. (That's where the trolling comes into play.)

Did I suggest you fudged anything? Please don't put words into my mouth. You were given a solution days ago and flat out ignored it (at the time) but continued to post on this thread. That's why I said you were trolling.

I think you're asking me how your experience has gone. But from the start, you didn't follow directions by resetting everything and then you reported that you had issues. @Mooseditty17 has been very responsive to your PM's and concerns (AFAIK). Not sure where things went amiss.

    Sounds perfect!

I doubt you'd need to drive on the same stretch of road to get similar results. If the issues truly exist, I don't think that will matter at all. So do whatever you think is necessary. Personally, I'll do a few miles on the interstate and in the city, stopping at a gas station a time or two to cycle the engine on and off. Seems to help the learn process speed up some. If you have a better way of doing it, then do it your way.

    ???
I did not reset Tranny lvs. I find it useless based on ~4 years of dealing with tunes. As I stated in my pm, tranny's actual shift was fine through all gears.
Again, I have issues with SLU management from tranny's side. Are you able to taylor the file? Honestly, this does not provide any benefits as far as a gain in speed/power As I mentioned in my pm, throttle in 5th is limited anyway if I drive above 70. Have it to downshift to 4th earlier. All the power in 4th or 3rd gear anyway. That's all I've been doing, manual force a downshift on the climbs and long inclines.

    Sounds like we
Of course the file can be tailored. The LV reset was for more than just the shiftpoint, and we've found (in about the same time messing with Tacoma tunes) that the TC is slower to respond to new LVs, and does better with a reset so it's not fighting only values from memory. Coming from Mat himself, and I understand that this might not be what you want to hear, an LV reset does help when there are suspected issues. Personally, I hate doing TCM resets. It makes it shift like shit for a while, but does help if I've made significant changes on my file. I just deal with the ahitty shifting for the first few miles. I'm not suggesting this is a single point fix, and we can absolutely make it better.

The misfires, we just need more data man. Curious what elevation you're at?

And through the years I have seen that it is necessary, depending on the edits made.

Yes, we can tailor the file to fit your needs. I believe @Kevinpd325 suggested that just a few messages above.

The TC staying locked can make the truck feel bogged down or harder to downshift.

You're the first to report that your truck required a manual downshift, so something definitely isn't right. We have verified your file and ruled it out as a potential cause, which only leaves a reset.

After you flash, and before you start, reset ECU/TCU LVs (learning values). Buttons are listed on the flash manager below start calibration.

It's not going to hurt anything if you didn't, but it's best to do it. You don't have to reflash either. Just hook it up and reset with power on, not running.

Anyone else switch from KDMP to Nexus? I am considering trying the +P tune for 87 octane.
