I am running a 1998 2RZ-FE in my 94 Hilux. When it comes time to rebuild it (has 72K miles on the engine) I am going to build a hybrid using a 3RZ-FE crank and flywheel. (The 2RZ can rev higher as well since it doesn't have the scissor gears and balance shafts that the 3RZ has.) I will get the longer stroke of the 2.7 and the higher rev of the 2.4!

You do know the blocks are different? 3rz has a taller block due to longer stroke..

really? I understand that the stroke on the 3RZ is 5mm longer than the 2RZ but I was unaware that the blocks were different heights. I have some friends that are Toyota technicians and I will have to ask them what the best course of action would be to stroke my 2.4.

Stroked engines don't like to rev. Keep the 2.4 and get a valvetrain kit from paradise racing and rev it to 7500 easy

Why would you want to rev TRUCK engine high? With any TRUCK activities you will use most torque down low. Under 3.5k rpm....

I love my 2TR-FE, has plenty of torque down low even with 3.33 gears and 31x10.5x15 tires. I can't wait to put some 4.56 gears in!
