The paddle stayed in the kitchen drawer. We had to go get it and bring it to Dad, get our paddling and have to have the crying “dried up” by the time we put it back or get it again. Never was hit with it anywhere but the rear. Also spent a lot of time grounded.

I always liked the smell of the roll caps. I had a little snub nose revolver cap pistol that took these. 89D2DF23-E019-4FA8-B943-D6E17510D898.jpg

I have an Italian mom…. She used a fly swatter after breaking wooden spoons on our rear ends.
    Ouch!
All of my neighborhood kids had one of these bad boys. We’d scoot around the neighborhood all day like we were in a big wheel gang. :bikewheelie2:

My cousin and I had cap pistols that shot those red ring caps.

My cousin's dad had a reloading bench. My cousin got the wild idea to put a primer in his pistol.

When he shot it, not only was it very loud, it blew the gun in to several pieces.

Luckily, there were no injuries other than our ringing ears.

The understatement of the year, right there!

I got the wooden spoon too, but I got the belt from my mom and a switch (skinny stick) from my grandma more often. Dad was pure hand, no tool.
I also went to a Military Academy and not only did I get grounded from weekend liberty, but also had to walk "tours". A "tour" was marching with a rifle (1903 or M-14) for an hour.
I'd do 4 or 5 tours a day on Sat & Sun each. Learned straight away to pad my shoulder with washcloths before starting. (Finally--- I learned to toe the line and ended up as a model cadet, but it took some horse-breaking techniques!)

Remember in the early 1970's when your parents would fill up $5.00 or more in gas and you would get a free hot wheel?

I had this one and wish I still had it:
