I have almost 30k on my truck since I did the bushing. Still smooth as glass.

    You are absolutely correct.
It was quick and dirty and had context within the original thread I posted it in. There are other graphics with the same picture requiring 1.5 degrees at the first joint for just the purpose you describe... I used 0-1 degrees to illustrate the concept is really close to that of a single shaft with standard u-joints; to equalize the remaining two u-joints.

that graphic is the stock config on the Tacoma. Angles, yes, but working angles should match to reduce vibration. The front shaft should have as little angle as possible (within the now mown 1-3 degrees), while the rear shaft should have evenly distributed working angles

I am also in east TN, and have the minor to moderate 30-10 vibration after dealer installed TRD lift. Can you recommend any stops around us here to install shims or this bushing?

If you have basic tool, a jack and stands at home, the bushing install isn't complicated.

Nothing wrong with paying a good shop for a hassle free instillation either though

Yup! I've got a couple of these now and it definitely pays dividends to take your time and measure everything twice.

Thanks for the inspiration. Buying the tools and the bushing isn't that big of a deal. I guess I would only need to get the front driver side off the ground and not very much at that. A shop here would charge about $350-400 or so I think which gives me peace of mind.

It should only take a shop about an hour. Although sometimes CVs are a little hard to get to let loose

So after looking, it seems they left the shims out between the block and leafs. I'm going to the dealer and see what's up and then get the thing done. I believe that price was for the parts and labor, but I'll check. I can't thank you enough man. It stinks to pay all that money and things were made worse.

I think I missed a step. Were they supposed to put shims on your truck? Or did you get the factory lift kit?

Hmm... I was under the impression that the TRD lift either reuses or includes a shim with it? if not, I think a small shim in addition to the bushing is a safer way to go? Please excuse the ignorance.

I mean a degree axle shim is definitely not going to hurt. But that'll affect the rear axle. The ECGS bushing will affect the front. Both are good things to have when you have suspension lifts

I appreciate it man. I was thinking that doing both the shim and the bushing would be best for the truck and that since it was all connected, an imbalance in one might affect the other too with 4x4 engaged. I was just wanting to do things correctly and not let any vibrations or weird stuff wreak havoc long term. I think I'll have the shop do both for me and leave it to the pros. Thank you so much.

Not a bad approach. But don't worry about sweating some of this stuff, these trucks are built like tanks.

Thanks for offering some peace of mind. I was getting edgy about the vibration causing problems.

Just had ECGS bushing installed with new cv axles and Koyo wheel bearing hub assemblies. The old bearing was in good shape. Removal and install tool is now available if anyone needs it.

I had it put in because of the info I read on this forum. I figured since I was having the cv axels done I would have them do this also. I don't have a lift but I did have a vibration in the gas pedal which now is non existant. When I bought my tacoma a year ago it had 135000 but no maintenance history so I am replacing parts little at a time

Sounds like you're on the right track man. If you can put a picture of your truck up so we can all tell you how good it looks :D

I had mine done at Rock Your 4x4 https://www.rockyour4x4.com/
in Knoxville. Really good people and from what I've seen on here, great prices. I had mine done about a year ago and they charged me 205.00 parts and labor. Likey higher now, but was more that a hundred less than that other shop in Knoxville.

Has anyone reduced the amount of lift instead of replacing for a bushing?
