Gas at BJ's has gone up another 15 cents; I went to Giant and used my rewards card to get it for just a penny per gallon more than what BJ's was asking ($4.14 at BJ's and $4.15 after my discount at Giant)...

One of the vice presidents at the company I work drives a 2012 Range Rover, which takes premium; He showed me his receipt from Costco, and it was $100.50!

Just because you're the vice president of a company does not mean you're rich; It's a 10-year old Range Rover that he bought used a few years ago, and he's thinking about selling it because maintenance alone is obscenely expensive.

that must mean it’s a small company or he’s made some bad financial choices. With great job titles come great paychecks.

It's a relatively small company; I showed you the website, remember? We're not Boeing or Lockheed-Martin...

My dad felt the same way about his BMW; It was a 2002 3-series convertible that he bought from his brother 2006. The car was great, but routine maintenance was obscene; He got fed up with the high cost of maintenance and traded it for a new Acura TL in 2008. The Acura was a great car and we had it for six years with no problems before trading it for something with AWD.

My dad could afford the BMW, but he'd rather take nice vacations than spend his money on a car; The VP can afford the Range Rover, but actually wanting to spend that money is a different thing. I am going to make an attempt at talking him into buying a Toyota.

i wouldn’t want to compare yourself to Boeing. After their merger with McDonnell Douglas and the crap with their 737 max I don’t put too much stock in that company any longer.
