MT Accumulator Delete Mod (ADM) and BS Thread

I am a little confused by the offer by @c_walters . You are looking for people who will send you back an additional accumulator after they receive the milled one, correct? I only have the one I took off my truck. I do not have one on my truck or any other extra one to send back.

 

Multiple people stated they had an extra accumulator they were looking to have milled prior to their swap, I’m looking for 5 guys to send me the extra one and I’ll have them milled at no cost to them and send them back. I would want to stock one that’s removed sent back to me in exchange for me paying to have them milled and the return shipping to them.

 

Yeah, I don’t think too many people have that setup. Bummer.

I think only two have purchased a spare. The rest of us would want ours milled and either sell or install next time for stealth mode (my personal plan)

That could make sense. Why not just buy 10 yourself and mill, then charge for someone to send in for a swap? Basically a core.

I don’t think too many are going to pay $100 to mill when dremel is free. I think $20 works. But for $100 I would be out.

 

That’s what I’m getting at, I wouldn’t pay $100 either, but if i were to take the cost on buying a brand new one at $80-90 a piece plus pay my guy $20 a pop (probably be $10ea done in a batch) then shipping just the break even I’d have to price it at that.

Thats why I’m thinking of doing the mill work for free for the first few in exchange for the take off part. I can have those milled, then have them “instock” sell them for $50 and have a $20 refund once I receive the then removed accumulator. This already sounds too much like work

 

Yeah, not a get rick quick scheme.

But a nice service if you had cash to front, mill 30 at $10 a pop, now you're in say $3300, sell for $125 each w $100 core so you make $10 profit per item which you can then use to pay for the mill of the core, subsequent batches are all $20 profit per item just for being the middleman and you recycle the packaging material. Still a why-bother for $20 I think.

I do similarly stupid things like the H9 connectors I bulk bought and sell for roughly cost. Probably not a huge time expenditure.

I don't have any suggestions, but a lot of folks early in this thread had take-off accumulators from the hard line swaps.

 

I’ll see where it goes, If anything I’ll do the ones interested now. If I come across used takeoffs cheap I’ll pick them up and have them on hand

 

FWIW, the prefab line with fittings, union, and tube-bending pliers are together <$25 at Autozone. If you f-up the line bends, then a new one only costs $5 for another.

is there a benefit to milling the accumulator as opposed to a new bypass line?

 

I’d rather the factory flares/sealing, and as for the stainless line I’ve had aftermarket brake lines come apart at the crimp. I’m weird

I still have a brand new in the box accumulator I bought for this, so I’m in for @c_walters offer. More than happy to send you my “used” one off my truck afterwards.

 

I'm trying to catch-up on this topic, is the milled accumulator as effective as the hard line modification? Also, is swapping a milled accumulator easier than going the hard line route? If so, I wouldn't mind buying the part (shipping it directly to @c_walters) and being a part of the group getting them milled.
