While gas is increasing in cost it is nothing compared to Ukrainian invasion. I think Americans should think outside our own pocketbooks and not be shelfsh.

No hesitation here. It is sad this even needs to be said. I have two coworkers whose wives and children have evacuated and are in the thick of it. One has been offline for 8 days.

Pick an automotive related forum for any brand, model, and engine/transmission combination, and you will see the same complaint, "I usually get XXX miles per tank and now it is worse." Some folks just never seem to understand the amount of fuel pumped into a tank during any given fillup, on any given day, at any given pump, can vary by as much as six quarts/liters (granted this is an extreme case, but the fact remains, no two fillups are the same). Now, if someone said, my usual distance covered over 5 tanks of fuel is 2,000 miles and those five tanks typically require 86 gallons of fuel, and now I'm only going 1,700 miles and still buying 86 gallons of fuel, then yeah, you have an issue.

I noticed for me, once I added my topper and changed wheels and tires, my MPG went down. I attributed the change to the additional tire weight and topper weight. I think your situation might depend on if you made any changes during that time. Did you do any modifications?

Been trying to avoid filling up this week lol. Don't be like me. Running on near empty isn't good for any vehicle.

Getting around 15 mpg (mostly highway miles) with an RLD camper, tire upgrade, Prinsu top rack, & truck bed loaded with gear.

Recently deleted rear seats & seems to get +1 mpg gain, unless it's all in my head.

Its more than just Ukraine vs. Russia causing the increases. They have been quickly rising since early 2021. This just is making it rise even faster.

$5/gal is about what it hit on '08 before the economy blew out/pink socked.

I get 390-ish to 400s. >85% of my driving is freeway. Dash claims 22-24mpg.

I’ve noticed poor gas mileage as well. I have been blaming it on the winter gas but not so sure. Went from 20-21 to 17-18 MPG. I drive a 2017 TRD sport DCLB.

gas prices aren’t high because of Russia/Ukraine conflict. I’ll stop there so I don’t hurt anyones feelings.

Does anyone use seafoam in their fuel tanks?

First post but I am in Canada where gas is now $2.05 per litre.... I am still averaging 660km/tank according to the computer but still ridiculously expensing considering I have to fill up every 5 days.

Sparingly. That stuff lingers for a long time, same as oil additives. You don't need to add it every fill up. A small amount every 10 fill ups or so does the job.

    Unacceptable.

Took a drive today and I was seriously slow trying to see what the best MPG I could get (never really cared to before but now I'm tuned I wanted to start some documentation). 16. And if there had been any traffic behind me I probably would have been shot at. Easily passed by loaded semi's. They cruise, but my taco? Nope. A small FORD was in front of me and the first leg of the trip I was keeping up but by the end of it they were at least two miles ahead. Granted... huge headwind too. Enough to move a flag like this:

    Capture.jpg

Sorry for the crappy pic. I just put the dashcam in today after the tint was redone and didn't adjust it properly. Pointed way too high and needs some more exposure once the bright sky is cut down a little. But that is a HUGE flag and it was all over the place. When I started the trip that little FORD would have been visible in this distance, maybe 300 yards in front of me. This is about the halfway point to home and it was not visible anymore for the rest of the drive. Just before this is a 2 mile straight away and I could barely see them. Clearly able to maintain speed better than I was. But for the duration of the trip it's mostly mountains and I was struggling on some trying to avoid 4th gear until I dropped to 55 (in a 70). Most of the trip was 60-70 and this is the result:

    20220307_162951.jpg

    20220307_162943.jpg

This is the best I have seen though. The tune helps a little, but if I wasn't driving like a granny it would be about 15mpg. Luckily gas is about 3.90 right now, but at this rate who knows. If I am being honest, I do miss that Subaru Crosstrek for drives like this. I'm certain in 4 years I'll be looking for an efficient little dinky grocery getter in some form or another... but the taco isn't going anywhere. Here's hoping the 4.88's help a little more too! I am pretty impressed even seeing 16 on the dash, and usually the fuel guage has dropped at least an eighth to a quarter (somewhere in that range depending on my lead foot). Also this was stopping to fill up at the gas station just outside of town right off the highway as it starts 60 then 70 a couple miles later. So kind of a best case scenario.

The best mpg I have gotten is 22, that was on a long trip. Normally I drive in the city and get between 12 and 14.
On trips 20 miles or longer, I just set the cruise control to 65 and let her ride. I don't care who passes me or thinks I am dumb:D

Same, but if I set cruise control where I live it's definitely going to waste gas. I previously used cruise control all the time, like when I lived in CA and VA. When I moved to MT I was using it at first, and did use it in my Subaru, but I've never even touched it in the Taco. I don't even know how to work it on this truck lol. But I agree, when I take a trip I am in no rush. 2 lane highways can be a bit cumbersome though. Sometimes grandpa joe in his old chevy is going a little too slow and there goes the gas tank if you pass. If you don't know the road you are either going to pass dangerously or be stuck behind them for a long long time usually. All that does is create a cluster because some asshole is going to come up behind you and get frustrated then pass over double lines. Happens all the time here. Anyways... just thought I'd share my sweet 16... I think it's an accomplishment lol.
