Sometimes I still can’t shift into 4hi at a dead stop so I’ll get moving and it’ll easily drop it. It doesn’t take much so it’s still an improvement.

Can anyone assure me, before I crack this monster open, that I'm in 2WD?

Don't stress if the little peace's fall out they're not super hard to get back in place. Mine still fell out even in 2H. I had to pull up the service manual to figure out were they go. and used some grease to help hold them in place. Found there service manual here.

Hey everyone, I'm new on this forum but used to be very active on Pirate and even Tacoma Territory back in the day. I recently picked up a 2012 TRD Offroad 4DSB with the 4.0 auto trans. I am very interested in a manual shift T-Case swap. I have read the first 14 pages of this thread and think I have it figured out. I found a manual Shift T Case from 2018 4runner with 33k miles. The 4runner is obviously an Auto trans. Can anyone confirm this will work. I know I will have to mod the wiring for the ADD, but everything else should be plug and play including wiring, plugs, driveshafts, etc.

    Thanks all
    Jake

welcome, and yeah it’ll work. Pro forum tip, the search function is kinda shitty but also kinda good if you’re looking for something super specific by checking the “search within this thread” box. I had to search in this thread a handful of times while I was mid swap to find an answer.

I think remember you from pirate. Didn't you have a straight axle Tacoma and a Cummins with a flat bed?

Why yes I did. The 1Ton Tacoma is gone but I still have the Cummins.
Ordered the t-case from a 2018 4runner with 33k miles! Should be here today

Any plans to build the Tacoma like your one? Or will this one be not as extreme?

No this is one going to stay mellow. After the t case swap I plan on 4.56 or 4.88, a front locker, UCA’s and drive the doors off for another 100k miles. Then all bets are off!!

    Guys:
I'm tempted to get into this soon:

Does the DPDT (momentary rocker switch) need to be 6 pole and 20 Amp?

Anyone have the page# with the Wire diagram?
If I were to go TwinStick mod, would the ensuing wiring be any different? (i'd plan to make the dash lights work properly either way)

the more I think about the benefits of this, if i can source a twin stick, set up i may go that route...

Also sort of wondering if I did mod the shift rails in anticipation of a Twin stick set up, could I use the J shift for now and simply switch the shifters later?
    TY TW!

20 amps is overkill but that’s the rating on many quality automotive switches. Toyota uses 22 gauge wire so that tells you how much they care about the circuit.

So everything seems to be working. I have my 4wd and low range lights wired in and am just waiting for a few things to do the locker anytime mod. When I put it into 4wd my traction control and atrack lights come on. I don’t remember that being the case before when I used the knob to just go to 4wd?? Thanks for the great thread
