I don’t think the build week is accurate - at least not currently. I’m a week 7 build and haven’t gotten a VIN yet and my temp vin still works in the App…

Does requesting a manual trans put you a good bit behind in allocation over an automatic? I recall seeing somewhere that the factory only produces a batch of MT's every 3 months? Can that be right? I thought many taco owners used to seek out manuals, now they look to be very rare.

I think I’m 2 weeks behind on my LB, based on my week 7 VIN.

I'm assuming it does based upon feedback from my sales rep; I ordered a TRD Sport DCSB 6MT with all of the packages and was told "Expect a wait of six to eight months minimum, maybe a year, or maybe never."

Fantastic. How are they producing so little MT's? The demand is very clearly there.

I'm not sure what the demand is as a percentage of overall Taco production, my gut tells me it is within a few points of 10%, so it makes sense to batch up the manual production, knock them out all in one swell foop, and then return to building Tacomas with autotragic transmissions.

I thought it had to do with fleet fuel efficiency standards. I was under the impression that these rules limited the number of manual trucks to a certain percent of the total number made (since the manual has a lower mpg rating)

I'm just paranoid now wondering whether I will get a MT build before the new model comes in and very likely strips away a MT offering.

When I put my deposit down a few weeks back for a manual Taco I knew it was a possibility it would never get built; fortunately I like my current ride, which is fully paid for, so if my Tacoma doesn't get built, no worries; I'll continue on car-payment free for the foreseeable future. :)

I currently have a 2017 TRD OR MT with 32k miles on it. Will own it in a few months so I am in a good spot however I wouldn't mind future proofing myself because I know MT will be a thing of the past soon. Thanks EPA and laziness.

Yeah, one of the reasons I'm trying to buy now; my current ride was built in 2006, and while it is in great shape and will probably be good for an easy 150,000 more miles, I don't want to run into an issue of parts availability becoming an issue in another ten years or so.

Well good luck to you! I have two deposits out as of last week so fingers crossed. Was told 6 months by one dealer and 45-60 days by another who said I was first in line for a MT, so that's good I guess.

How can I find the build week for a permanent VIN? (Or, on my actual truck?)
I must have had the fastest delivery ever.
My truck was delivered to the dealer on the night of 3/4. I picked it up on 3/6.
The door plate has build date of 03/22.
Did my truck really get built in Baja, shipped to the states, port added options and delivered to my dealer in 4 days?

Placed deposit on a double cab lunar rock TRD sport premium with MT in January. Got a call the other day that I got an allocation and that it is being built next week, but it did not have the premium package on it. I was looking forward to the premium package, should I hold out for another allocation or just take what I can get?

Speaking strictly for myself, I'd wait; I want both the Premium Package and the Advanced Technology Package.
