Tacoma too expensive to drive?

I can recall when the price of butter rose exponentially, I can't recall why. Fun times!

I can't recall that people stopped buying and consuming butter.

 

Y'know, I really would take your side, in a perfect world. But the world just isn't.. The whole "should budget better" logic can only take you so far when so much of one's large or small business is dictated by someone other than the business owner. Its just the way things are (in the US I mean).

 

They're great, that was my first car, a 1999 MT Civic. It's shamefull now that Corollas in the 1970s got 37mpg.

 

I'm not a business owner so for me I hope the best for them. And I don't know where I said budget I said prepared. Can't see everything in life coming at you but if you're prepared to be flexible and adapt to the situation you'll get through it. My whole life has been a shit storm and here I am.

 

I had a Toyota 86, I got 27 in that. But required Premium. I used to miss that car. I don't now.

but its greed/price gouging, plain and simple.

we have the ability to produce enough domestically to keep prices reasonable. The oil companies lost a lot of money during covid, and as things have opened up, they've been slowly raising prices to recoup that. Now with the war in Ukraine, they're seeing an opportunity to gouge some more, and blame it on something and someone else. Keep production and supply low, to recoup lost profits. Any other explanation is just scapegoating to distract people.

 

80% of our imports are crude oil. We import very little gasoline, the majority of it is refined here.

 

I just put an extra 220v plug in my shop in prep for when I can find a decent used plug in car, in the meantime it's an extra welder plug

Be careful with regurgitating political talking points. The ones sitting on the desks perhaps haven't found gas/oil or multi-year planning is in process.

It really is amazing mpg is all over the place with vehicles. Weight and aerodynamics is a big factor I know, but my 3.5L Camry at 3600lbs gets 28mpg mixed and I drive the snot out of it.

 

I use Cruise Control on 295 every day. Helps a lot.

 

Hey guys, don't complain! Our overlords say that you rural folk should just buy an EV! Problem solved!

Don't forget, they want gas to be expensive.

I miss the good old days when our leaders cared about the normal folks.

 

And stay off the turnpike. Never understood why people take it in SNJ when they literally run parallel, they almost merge at some points.

 

Sales of large SUVs and full size pickups go sky high in times of low fuel cost, then everyone freaks out when gas goes up and they're stuck with their 8mpg excursions.

 

Cut off 1,000 lbs from your Taco and drive under 58 mph and it too can do 28 mpg with stock 245/75r16 highway tires.

 

I had an old Oldsmobile ('89 Calais w/ 2.3 L Q4 engine) that used to get 32+ on the highway...
My Taco averages 18 w/ my driving patterns.

Safe to say the Taco does much better in other areas... which is why I have it.
