I see SUV/Truck prices falling or stock of new not selling and motorcycle prices or just demand rising slightly for both if this goes beyond a month.

My timing for buying a RAV4 couldn't have been better. I'm done with work and any commute but my wife has a couple more years in the school system (If she can make it!) She was driving the new Taco to work for the last couple-a-few months and that ended 2 weeks ago with the new RAV. Averaging 29 so far with the gas AWD version. Almost all stations are into the $5.50 territory now but Costco is where we fill and they haven't broke $5 yet but I'm betting today will be the day.

I agree. I had a Honda Grom as well up until about 2 months ago.

Sure wish I hadn’t sold it. 100 mpg lol.

Out here in CA, it went up 70 cents a gallon overnight. Nothing changed, the same gas in the ground is now $6.19. a gallon, this smacks of war profiteering.

Half the story. Why do we do it? Refinery capacity is maxxed out. Gotta get it from somewhere.

Everyone thinks you can just "drill, pump, refine" more and get more. It takes a lot of time to produce more of anything!
My wife asked the other day why they don't just add more ships so the product can get here quicker from overseas. I told her it's not like they have an extra thousand empty ships sitting around waiting to be used. Oil is like that too. Maybe OPEC can produce a bit more but it will take a lot of time before we can produce more.

Yep... The system is designed to ensure that what is consumed is replaced. It costs money to store oil / gas. The system is designed so fuel does not need to be warehoused.

Regardless how many leases oil companies have, they simply can't go out and put a shovel in the ground... It takes time to ramp up production, and there is typically a sweet spot where opening a new well makes sense (i.e. - the price needs to be more than X $ per bbl, and they need to have the price stay above that level for some time.). This is transient.

Yes…yes…excellent. I see the value in my RAV4 Prime increasing. Will make trading it in for an IS500 that much easier.

$5.05 regular and $5.29 premium at my Costco as of yesterday. Good luck.

Well, it does have a connection because it's a commodity that is traded (oil) on a global market. There's no "pre-war" and "post-invasion" supply. It's all one thing.

See above and that's how our flavor of capitalism works. It's also the reason we have had some of the cheapest gas in the world for a century and continue to do so.

All of this complaining about gas prices in the US is hilarious and disgusting at the same time. We have it better than almost anywhere else in the world as far as the cost of gasoline and the majority of cry babies that complain about how much it costs don't even know how the market works. Don't buy it if you don't think it's fair/worth the cost. A reduction in global demand will lower prices immediately.

You need to find a way to capture the static electricity you generate walking up the stairs, and use that to charge an EV

5,183,000 barrels of finished gasoline imported from Russia out of 39,640,000 total barrels finished gasoline imported = 13% of finished gasoline imports come from Russia.

39,640,000 finished gasoline barrels of finished gasoline imported out of 3,090,910,000 total barrels crude/products imported = finished gasoline was only 1.28% of total oil imports, and finished gasoline from Russia only .167% of total imports

Estimated gasoline consumption in the US was 8.8mil b/d, which comes out to 3,212,000,000 barrels. Which means 1.23% of gasoline used in the US in 2021 was imported, with .161% of that coming from Russia.

As I stated, most of the gasoline used here is refined here.

Both, but the oil leaked and the gas was burned.

If people don't like it they can go to Algeria. Gas is $1.23, last reported, there.
