That really is weird to have 2 engines with head gasket issues. I’ve had many Toyota’s in the past with no head gasket issues except for my last Tacoma (03 3.4) that had a head gasket go but it also had 220,000 miles on it & I also never had any other problems with it either.

    Damn a twofer?

When and how did the first one happen?

It does sound like the one you currently had was a lemon and tbh, they probably did know.

Why can't you utilize the lemon law? State restrictions?

Exactly no Lemon laws on used vehicles in Florida..

the first one 52k miles was literally a few hours after taking it off the lot. The check engine light came on Toyota precheck certified and all supposedly lol .so i took it in the next day and they diagnosed it as a bad Head .I Refused that vehicle and they gave me this one.

which had 35k miles I had just made 50k miles on it when it got diagnosed with another bad Head issue…been in the shop for 2 months and was supposed to have it back a few days ago. now they’re saying when it got put back together it’s now having compression issues.

machine shop blaming mechanics and vice versa a whole shit show!!

That's terrible. I think I just misunderstood your initial post, sorry about that.

2 months for a blown head gasket is not cool... Really no good reason for that. Any chance you can get it towed to a different shop? I'd start making phone calls but it really depends on where you live. Did they give you a loaner or anything? Hopefully free of charge.

I was told my pcv valve caused my head gasket issues. I couldn’t tell any difference :notsure: took probably three weeks to get my 17 back

This thread is pointless without this information people. We can just stop chit chatin.

I could tell you my 5.6 v7 Tacoma 6WD has a break fluid issue drive manual and needs fixin.... doesn't mean a damn thing without evidence or explanation

Have you been going to the same shop the whole time? Perhaps this shop is just untrustworthy? are they reputable?

If it's any consolation I had a new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee that needed a cylinder head replaced at 200 miles. Was in the shop for almost a month because supposedly the head was back ordered. I filed the lemon law paperwork with the manufacturer and miraculously the new head showed up at the dealer via FedEx. After I got it back it ran fine and never had an issue again.

With over 1.5 million sold and say one million V6's sold, a bunch would be around 50K not seven or eight. Hell, let's say a thousand fail. That's one tenth of one percent.

    I agree.

2GR FKS is proving to be a pretty solid engine. I just wish they didn’t use that stupid plastic coolant bypass tube. I had a plastic thermostat housing on my previous truck and I had to replace it every coupe years or so.

    OK so here’s an update

after resurfaced heads and they changed all the cylinders/ head struts / gaskets/ springs . Basically redid the whole upper half the the engine they, now found a coolant leak that supposedly wasn’t their before into one of the cylinders..

So the next step is they want to replace the Block as they think it’s a crack or something? And if that doesn’t work they will basically replace with a new engine..

Man I’m looking at probably another two months or more this is crazy .

But you'll have a brand new engine. That's pretty nice. Hopefully you get a good one this time:thumbsup:!
