Not much, but added some more storage space in the attic. Since we only have one sheet of decking, storage is limited. Had to take out a bunch of stuff so the alarm guy could run wire for a heat sensor so I made use of the access I had. Used scrap 3/4 ply and 2x

Yup, summer is coming, it's project time while it's cool!

At least fear of Florida sun is what's motivating me!

My hot water heater started to leak today. It has a 10 year limited warranty. Gotta hand it to their engineers.

In the summer my attic gets center of the sun hot. Doesn't your stuff get cooked, or do you just store stuff that isn't sensitive to heat?

    Engineered obsolescence/failure.

If you make it last forever they'll never need to buy another one!

Wow does this home improvement crap take time I figured I'd be enjoying my room all set up to the nines by now.

I ain't even got paint up.

I will be ready for paint tomorrow for sure!

    J̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶t̶h̶o̶u̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶l̶a̶s̶t̶ ̶6̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶f̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶I̶ ̶r̶e̶a̶l̶i̶z̶e̶d̶ ̶I̶ ̶h̶a̶d̶ ̶m̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶d̶o̶.̶

Got the quarter round up all around for the indirect LED lighting strips.

Waiting for the hardware store to open to pickup more spackling to fill the nail and screw holes.

Learned some interesting things about the house.

Interior walls are studs 24" on center exterior walls are studs 16" on center with no studs above the windows or doors, figured they would be framed out above too but no, had to get pretty liberal with drywall anchors here and there was hoping to do all with nails so much smaller and minimal holes to patch.

I did pick up some KILZ PVA for everything.

    PXL_20220307_100147801~2.jpg

First I rough measured and hung with gaff tape.

    PXL_20220309_022316470.jpg

Then I made myself a speed block to ditch the finicky tape measure.

    PXL_20220309_004340153.jpg

Discovering there's no studs above the window...

    PXL_20220309_035346716.jpg

All done with the trim, I ran a 5' straight edge level around everything it's an optical illusion that the spacing looks off on the left side in the photo it looks perfect to the eye in person but looking at the picture wigged me out thought I somehow screwed up big time.

    PXL_20220309_074105758.jpg

My joints came out okay but not as tight as I would have wanted, need a miter saw for better work there but nothing spackling can't fix.

Next time I will 45° overlap my mid seams, didn't think about that until I was already done with it and noticed this in the hall.

This outlet was showing a bad ground, killed the breaker pulled it out discovered the twisted pair was covered in paint and loose; separated them, a little quick brillo wheel Dremel work, some pliers and a good twist and we're all green.

Electrical work is not my strong suit and frankly makes me a little nervous most of the time but not burning my house down is definitely worth looking into.

To the freaking day, that is impressive and sad.

I had a car battery die within warranty, and the lady running the counter didn't want to warranty it because I only had three days left she said I may as well just buy a new one since there won't be a warranty I said I'd rather not shell off 300 bucks for something I can get for free.

Honestly with as close as it is I would fight with the warranty department, just because you noticed it leaking when you did doesn't mean it hadn't failed prior to that at least that's the argument I would bring up.

We had the same thing happen, warranty was out by about a month. Simple phone call and we had it pro-rated. About a $100 refund on a water heater that was 6 years old and $300 when new.

 A battery they didn’t want to warranty because you only had days left of a warranty? Come on that’s absurd.

Our Subaru went through 4 batteries in 4 years, every single one of them was within a month or two of the warranty. We had a nice long paper trail of them being replaced and noting their leaks. Car batteries when replaced, their warranty window is by the battery not the car’s warranty.

Can somebody point me to a good guide as to how to re-wire these 3 light switches into a single combined unit? I can't believe this was wired into 3 separate switches, the house is only 5 years old.

    Top controls outdoor flood lights

    Middle controls patio fan

    Bottom controls patio central lighting

What i'd like to do is turn it into something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton...bination-Switch-White-R62-01755-0WS/100356847
