    When you buy gun parts at auction for one piece, but the new to you stock and fore end turn out to be better than what you have, you start sanding! Metal is easier/more forgiving to work with, but the character/grain of wood can be beautiful!

    It probably would have stopped when it got to the road, since it was plowed and graveled.

    However the potential is there for a misadventure -- say I was to let a basketball roll down my driveway, it could end up at the bottom of the dead end road 1/2 a mile away at my neighbors mailbox. Down hill all the way.
