Anyone ever purchased a aftermarket keyless entry and installed it? I called the Toyota dealership and they said my truck was to old to get one from the factory but i could do an aftermarket one.

I have a 2002 with powered locks, no keyless, and just ordered a Audiovox from Amazon for $22. I'm going to post a thread of the install when I do it.

The Audiovox I ordered was is a three button; lock, unlock, and accessory.

Yes. I didn't want a bunch of blank buttons. I may use the accessory button as a window roll up.

It'll next week, maybe Monday. Amazon just shipped the remote. I downloaded the wiring guides from Amazon, Toyota service manual, and Bulldog alarms to do some background study. I have looked for some of the wires already and found most of my connections. There aren't many so I'm hoping it will be pretty straight forward.

i have a keyless entry with my alarm set. cost me 70 bucks and that was the cheapest i found in my area. the shops were bribing me to get the better one but i didn't need it. i need a alarm because my key can't open the door so its the only way for me to get inside my truck.

I bought my truck used and the previous owner installed a Viper alarm on it. I wish it was just keyless entry...

I guess my thing is the lack of pics or diagragms illustrating the location of the connections. The fuse panel location is a no-brainer, so hopefully at least if I can post some images someone might have it a little easier. At least one of my sources stated the pin number for the connectors of the connections

The unit still hasn't arrived but I expect it soon and have a few days off next week and we're due some cold weather so I expect to get in a garage day.

As to the windows, from my experience, adding a relay and connection on the window up circuit should allow me to press/hold the accessory button to raise. I'm still "iffy" on how bad I need this.

I have an 01 tacoma with the factory key less entry. I have a problem with this accessory; if the alarm is set and your keys battery is dead, you cannot start the vehicle. I was almost stranded at deer camp because vof this. I called the dealer for an owner bypass for the system and was told that the vehicle would have to be towed to the dealership to get a bypass. Presently I do not use the alarm, however if a Toyota owner parks near me and sets his alarm, mine is set also. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Just a suggestion, you might want to try your question as a new thread. Also, there are a couple of threads about the factory system which might help by using the forum search function.

For what it's worth, all Best Buy's offer the Viper Basic Keyless Entry installed for $139.95. My sister-inlaw is having her '01 DC done soon.
