Mainly because I'm curious as to what happened to the motor exactly, nothing more.

I've read all the issues about smoking when going up hill, burning oil and all that.

But damn, that thing sounded *done* when they tried firing it up.

I remember that, yet another 3.5l grenading itself on steep incline crawls. Big reason not to go Turd gen if you ask me. Never once had any oil burning/starvation issues on steep hills in my 1st gen.

 

Yeah it sounded like hell!

 

This seems to be a reoccurring issue for these guys. Angles and oil and dead engines

 

I wonder if they have a tune that's contributing to it. Otherwise dry sumps may need to become a mod for even moderate offroading in 3rd gens.

 

Yeah it seems like a huge blunder on Toyotas part

 

Sometimes I think about selling everything and just getting a 2nd gen on 33s to start over lol

I think they're putting an LS in to replace it

 

A lot of them are installing catch cans which supposedly helps. There's a big thread on it in the 3rd gen forum somewheres

I legit thought that said DENIAL at first, late onset dyslexia maybe

 

Ya I just read that it's actually the PCV valve.. crazy

 

The amount of denial in those threads is amazing too.

 

A red or white access or double cab 2nd Gen, V6 stick shift would be awesome.

I always liked that bright blue color, but they seem to look better on an X Runner versus a 6 lug.
