Im glad you pointed out more specifically what I should be feeling or looking for. I can definitely tell a difference in the middle of a wide open pull in that it doesn't bog down drastically in the middle of it. Thanks! and im definitely on board for that tune.

 

Now I am throwing code P107D. I can’t figure out why. I rechecked all my fuel rail and injector connections and didn’t find anything wrong.

 

Any MT guys supercharged and have the URD Torque-U Heavy Flywheel? If so how do you like it? I'm going to be changing out my clutch in two weeks and wondering if it would be a worthwhile thing to add long as it'll be torn apart.

 

I’m waiting for them to release a lightened flywheel. A heavier one sounds awful to me. Even more rev hang, slower revs, less HP to the wheels, smoother power, all yuck to me.

 

I guess it comes down to how you use the truck. From what I'm reading after searching some is the heavy would be more for slow speed off roading. Of coarse the trade off are the things you listed.

I think I've decided to stay with the stock flywheel. I'm also putting in a Northwest Fabworks Eco Crawler while I have the driveline apart. So shouldn't need the extra slow speed torque with the double low range.

 

Does anyone have the dayco replacement part number for the tensioner used on the magnuson s/c setup. Tried searching but no dice.

 

For anyone who had OVTune before installing the supercharger. Did you flash back to stock before flashing the Magnuson tune or just install over OVTune 2.0?

I took my truck to a toyota dealership to have my SC installed, I already had OVtune on my truck and they were able to install and flash to magnason without issues

 

I installed the 87mm pulley last night and did a little driving with it today. With only my scientific butt dyno it doesn't feel as good as the 90mm. Feels like it's pulling timing as the load increases. I may hook up the laptop to it and data log at some point but for now going back to the 90mm pulley.

 

what does "pulling timing" feel like?
Im assuming the FI tune can make changes that can more completely take advantage of the 87mm pulley.

 

Like the ECU is taking all your power away. Because it is, to prevent itself from destroying itself.

 

Pulling timing is reducing the amount of timing advance.

 

Keep in mind when ambient temp hits 38 deg exactly, and the little snowflake pops up next to the temp on your dash, your Toyota ECU winter safety limits the amount of torque delivered. This limit translates to 3-5 psi max boost with the supercharger. I doubt it’s the pulley as we have run the 87mm on the street and dyno with the magnuson stock tune with zero issues. AFR 11’s to 12’s. Not to say your truck could be different. It’s always best to log what you are experiencing but again… probably not the pulley. More likely this is ambient temp related.

Yes it runs fine with the 87mm pulley stock tune. Confirmed on the dyno.

The truck at exactly 38 deg snow flake limits torque. At 39 deg full torque becomes available. Multiple street pulls have confirmed this. For the longest time we were wondering what the hell was going on within the Yotawerx tune. Come to find out it does it on the Magnuson as well. There is no work around. Thank you Toyota for another piece of random bullshit that enthusiasts need to deal with.

 

That's really interesting, and actually explains a lot. We've been bouncing between the 20's and 40's. I thought it pulled harder on warmer days but figured it was my imagination.

You’re welcome! The Toyota winter safety does the exact same thing on the 90mm pulley as well… Which sucks because forced induction loves colder weather. Definitely not your imagination.

 

Frustrating to say the least. You don't know how many weeks of tuning progress were lost trying to figure out WTF was going on

 

I’ve been wondering what was up with the seemingly lackluster performance on cold days. I had no idea Toyota did something like that but that explains a lot.

 

Does it do this even without the supercharger installed? Really interesting.
