Anything welding

I'm curious about the angle you mounted your torch. Is the head angled, but the tip is at 90 degrees, or is the tip angle greater than 90? If so, why did you mount it that way?

I've been cutting some basic stuff with mine. Learning that I need to start compiling my own G-Code, and also I need some different tips for various thicknesses.

I am hoping Primeweld gets their machine torch back in stock as I'd like to not need to take my torch cabling loose when I need to cut something by hand. They have one for $299, but it's been out of stock for months.

Don`t be so cheap a New contact tip after 10 pounds of wire works wonders.

Just like cover plates they slowly degrade over time.

What was that Stupid Tv program ?? Choppers something that started this whole stacked dimes cult when Tig Welding.

None of Us that learned TIg in school in seventies ever saw this But it really looks pretty on the TV Show.

My favorite teacher when I went back in the late 90`s to get my hand back before retesting . When asked about the stacked dimes would chuckle and say Yes indeed if you want to play a welder on TV Better to learn and walk away laughing.

I'm using a drag tip cutter, so straight up and down is a must.

 

I know .my welds are not going be drooled over as weld porn. But i also know they are strong and will hold up.



The green piece is the mount for the ram for the tube bender.. it held up better than tbe bender when a pin became jammed. Bent several parts that will. Need replaced if I go with a smaller die set.

It is also my first tig project. Aftee a few hours of practice.

Ending the bead neatly is an area I need some practice on. But once it was painted and few months gone by. I do not notice the same flaws.

Besides I know it only gets better with practice.

Thanks. I have bought from George before.

He is a regular on the forums for Langmuir CNC tables. Gives really good advice, and luckily he has the same setup as me. I am going to get my next tips order from him.

Unless @koditten will just create/send me the DXF file , I am going to try this as my first item that I create from start to finish. This is a Harbor Freight pic. Magnet attached w/the two screws. Planning to put a Toyota or maybe Tacoma logo in the base.

I need one for my tractor, my mower, and my CNC table. I may try to come up with an attachment idea for the interior of my 1st gen. Sub that for the magnet.

 

I'll see what I can come up with.

I used the demensions of a standard 12 oz. Beer can.

If you want bigger, just increase the scale on your digital readout on your CNC controller.

I ran out of time and shut down the cad program before I saved it as a dxf. I have it saved, so it's not a big deal to get it into that format .

I was just kidding. The HF one is only like $12, but still be cool to make my own. I am going to give it a go and add a Toyota logo.

I been practicing on Autodesk Fusion 360. That's what Langmuir recommended to use with their system. I've designed gussets, disc brake rotor, several brackets, etc just for practice. Basic stuff, but learning the features.

Fusion's pretty user friendly for the design stuff, but so far it is refusing to let me save a library entry for my cutter. I may have to call them. It's free for non-commercial usage.

I was really happy that my internal taps on the Primeweld cutter seem to be correct. There is a squabble between them (and other cutter companies)and Langmuir. Langmuir says the CNC port voltage signals vary too much for their hardware and they removed them from the "approved" cutter list. Primeweld say no. It is also blamed for freezing the auto torch height control. I haven't had that problem.

Luckily Langmuir has a small interface unit that can accept raw (full) voltage if you tap into the controller outputs inside the cutter, by-passing the reduction circuit for the CNC port. The fact that they sell this kinda tells me they knew their unit was ultra sensitive to voltage variation.

The info on where to tap had discrepancies, and Primeweld was saying no need. Pucker factor 10 the first time I ran a cut.

 

I'm a novice with F360 as well, so every challenge is an opportunity to learn something new.

Thank you!. I have to go to work today, but tomorrow I will give it a try. I was thinking of making it big enough to holder a foam cozy. I have already played with the scaling feature in Langmuir's Fire Control software. You can scale things in that instead of the CAD program. It's a really nice feature.
