Yeah that's actually what I had planned to do for the same reasons, but when I started to test fit I just didn't like it. The jerry can will actually be sitting on the brackets but like I said, I'll definitely have some straps on it anyway. You are right about wanting to sit on it though lol.

This is what I was copying (no way I was spending a bunch of $$ on this) and how the straps will be:

Made these and installed on both seats. I know there are other seat risers out there, but decided to make my own. Feels way nicer having the seat tipped just a little!

Thanks. That stuff comes in handy. When I was little I had to get a bunch of stitches in my big toe / foot thanks to some sheet metal. And after cutting this to size for the jerry can it was pretty sharp and jagged. Someone would've definitely caught their shoulder on it while camping after a few beers lol.

Very Nice! I would suggest using a little thicker walled square tubing.
But other than that? Great thinking outside the box!

Question: I am not a tall guy, only 5'11", but on occasion I am hitting my head getting in my truck. Would seat risers help? I would think just the opposite. TIA.

Yeah, I thought about that, but it gets tight on the bolt head going into the cab. I also play with old volkswagens and motorcycles which makes the relative risk low! It's a funny thing going between them and thinking about that--"boy, I really should beef this up for safety" and then get in/on something that has no seat belts or they were optional from the factory.

You'll still hit your head. Comfier to drive, in my opinion, but no change to the head bang. Wear a flat bill and you're fine, the bill hits first and you don't smack your head. o_O

Yeah I hear you! I don't think safety is an issue. The force it would take to rip the seat out? By that time you have bigger problems!
I was just thinking that off-roading they might start to fold over a bit from hard side to side movement?

If you want something smaller this is what I'm currently using...the Bubba 24oz Hero. Fits nicely.
6 hours hot...24 hours cold. Insulated stainleess steel inside.
Works great for keeping water cold. I put cold spring water and a few ice cubes in it before I go to bed and when I get up there are still ice cubes in it. And I normally sleep 10-12 hours! :bored:

You just gotta duck! These trucks are Japanese! Most of us are barely 5' While jumping!! LMAO!!

But I wish the tilt steering would go higher to get more clearance between the front of the seat and the steering wheel.

    Heh, I'm a skinny guy!

I made some similar mounts for my FJ40, moving the seat back as much as I can, and they've held up well. I think the fact that the bolts in the back keep you from twisting the seat on the mounts does a lot to keep those in a 'column only' type loading.
